(edit - I re-read your post) Based on the rules link, yes.

•"...Dragstrip sessions will be divided into two run groups, one for the Street Machine Eliminator class and the other for all the rest of the classes combined. There will be one session for each group, followed by an all-run session. Times and details will be announced at the drivers meeting and may change day to day depending on conditions. ..."

I was wondering if it might be better to run the SME class first, then have the other classes and the all run session consecutively. My thought on that is many of the heavy hitters rarely make the fisrt run session anyway. The sme cars can run, get some heat in the track and hit the road.

I think that plan has merit. They usually do a quick prep before the class cars any way and with the SME's on race rubber the track should get better, not worse, at least the mid-week tracks that may be on the thin side. This presumes that track prep stays somewhat neutral between a drag radial prep and a big power, big bias slick tire prep.

The down side to that is that if a big powered car has trouble on its first hit, the remaining time it has to get repairs done is shortened. SME second gives them an extra 2 hours. I personally don't care either way myself- just playing devils advocate.
Why think when you can be doing something fruitful?

Trade off: Heat in the track versus heat in the air?
