  • Anyone towing tandem?

So last year I drove my car to the start of DW at Bowling Green which was about 300 miles from home. We towed my little DW trailer behind the GTA and had no overdrive with the TH350. This year with 2 OD's in the T56, I think I'm actually towing it to Tulsa. lol The main reason is I won't have much seat time on the new T56 (which isn't together yet) and I don't want to break it that far from home without the tow vehicle. I know I know... that's weak!

ANYWAYS, my car trailer is only 16' so I don't have room to put my small DW trailer on the bigger car trailer so I'm probably going to weld a receiver hitch on the back and tow tandem with 2 trailers. Does anyone else do that?

Something like this... lol. I had to put new wood on it this weekend, paint it, check wheels bearings, etc.

I've seen it done a few times, Was going to do it myself but figured out some different ways with the pickup and trailer. Now I went to a longer trailer so both fit. Different states have dif laws. Go for it. Just do not get in a long back up situation.

Looks like triple tow is ok in OK, KS and MO as long as the total combined length is 65' or less.

As an aside, Farm Truck and AZN tow triple with Farm Truck on an open trailer and the Dung Beetle tow-bared on behind it. I've got some pictures of it somewhere . . . .

Just check with each state that you will be towing through..
all of them have a max length... here in Mich we have a 65'
total length(a lot of states are 65' but check... I have pulled
dual trailers in the past... forget about backing up with a short
trailer in the rear... you will jack knife in a BLINK

Here's my "triple tow" rig for Drag Week 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013. Only the tow truck will be different for 2014.

Mr. P - Yeah, I don't plan on backing up with that little one... jackknife city! We'll get out and unhook it or manuever it by hand if need be.

Procharged - Cool setup! I'm surprised more don't do this or at least post pictures of their car and trailer on their big trailer. POST PICS everyone! :-)

Nice. They look good. My best man is bringing a notchback Fox on DW this year and they're running them. They're probably painting the centers gold.

Thanks, the wheels need a real good cleaning and polishing because they are starting to look dull from sitting outside year around. Sounds like there are going to be a lot of Mustangs this year and many will be four-eye cars. Can't wait.

I finished it all up this weekend. Torched a hole in the back, welded a receiver tube in, drilled holes and clearanced for chains, wired in another pigtail, and also had to put all new shackles and bushings in the 16' trailer. I think I've restored that trailer now. lol
