There was a comment that 29 people had taken advantage of the early registration afforded to the top 3 in each class, leaving 231 spots. My brother entered last night, and was number 2301, so I'm figuring cut-off will be about #2530. Last year I boldly predicted it would fill up in one weekend, I missed by a little bit! My 2014 prediction : 45 minutes! Any body else?

I think it will fill up as fast as 231 people can fill the application out. Less than 1/2 hour is my guess.

I predict some kind of stressful computer overload that makes us all go grey when we aren't signed up by 9:05 pacific time and causes a fire on the F5 button.

I will be starting at 9:00:01 and will be praying the web site is not managed by the "retired" health care techies.

Fortunately it's not Hot Rod's web page, it's the ticket vendor, and they are set up to deal with really big opening sales. 260 is nothing for them.

Do you really believe there will be 231 spots open at the time the link goes live? There's already people claiming they have the link and have signed up already (and no, it's not the "by invitation only" link, either)..

Going to be hard on those of us who choose to play by the rules, that's for sure..

Last year, the link was the same as it was the previous year, but they cancelled all the "early" transactions. Could be that's happening again?

From HR's site:

If you happen to receive that early registration link from someone, and you are not one of the people who received it directly from HOT ROD, DO NOT use the link. Your registration will be invalid. We know the names of every person who we emailed the early link to, and only those people are allowed to register using that link. Also, the registration link sent to past winners is not the same one that will go live to the general public.

I bet anyone that jumps the gun will not have a valid registration.

This same thing happened last year and this was the result:

I can confirm:

a) Site was not a hoax -
b) cards were not charged
c) any "pre-registrations" were not accepted
d) Your confirmation number is not valid
