  • Email 9/4 from Hot Rod

Every one get their email from Hot Rod today? I know some folks had theirs go to the spam folder- just thought I would ask.

Question- what are your thoughts- if we park on Saturday night at Beech Bend, will we need to unload then or can we wait till Sunday?
Why think when you can be doing something fruitful?

Got mine, sounds like you can leave them loaded Saturday. Hot Rod just wants them off the trailer going through tech line.

I plan to leave mine loaded and then move Sunday morning as needed, drive the car off the trailer to tech right after I move the trailer to where it will sit.

So the question comes will be need to move the truck and trailer again? Or will our trailer parking spots actually be the impound for the tow vehicles?

        Show the e-mail!

Hello, HOT ROD Drag Week™ Racers!

You are receiving this email because you have officially registered for this year’s Hot Rod Drag Week event.
Remember, if you need to drop out please notify us immediately so another racer can confirm their position in the field.

Attached you will find a document which details some very important information pertinent to Tech and Registration (Sunday September 9 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CDT – sharp!) and a handy Checklist of things you MUST have with you and/or be prepared with on Registration Day. You will also find other relevant information regarding the Event in general as well as Race Procedures for each day of Racing. Please print and read this information, and keep it handy!

Note regarding Tech and Registration at Beech Bend: Holley's LS Fest will be wrapping up on Sunday afternoon Sept 8th at Beech Bend as Hot Rod Drag Week Registration and Tech will be underway. In order to tech your car must be off the trailer and under its own power. In an effort to make our tech and registration process go as smoothly as possible on Sunday, we will be allowing trailers to park at Beech Bend in advance on Saturday evening from 7pm to 9:30 pm. If you have a tow rig and would like to park your trailer on Saturday evening you will be directed to a designated area at the far end of the pits in the grass lot. This area will be adjacent to the Hot Rod Drag Week designated trailer compound area for the week. Your trailer will stay where it is parked until after Holley's LS Fest is over on Sunday at roughly 3:00pm. We will have staff on site to direct you to trailer parking on Saturday evening and again on Sunday morning. If you cannot park your trailer on Saturday evening, you can bring it in on Sunday morning and will be directed where to park in order to offload at that time.

REMINDER: You MUST have all required documentation with you on site. Please refer to the Checklist attached. If you did not supply all information requested (insurance company, policy number, license plate number, etc.) during the online registration please make sure you have your current information and are prepared.

For more information and the latest updates, please check frequently at hotrod.com and Facebook.com/HotRodMag.
If you have specific questions, please send them no later than Wednesday 9/4/13 to [email protected].

          Got mine..
In the attached PDF file it states you need a valid NHRA competition license to go faster than 9.99, yet the rules state NHRA OR IHRA license (I have the latter).. nice of them to spring this on us at the very last minute.

Guess I'll have to do my best Saul Goodman during tech ;)
          DW2013 - DNF (Gateway - trans failure)
          DW2014 - SR BB/PA class winner!
DW2015 - Finished in 1 piece (for once!)
          DW2016 - Still "Fox Free" ;)

Drag Week staff cannot overrule a track operator’s decision not to let a car run based on the results of inspection. There will be extensive NHRA safety inspection of each car on the first day at Beech Bend, but passing that inspection does not necessarily mean that your car will pass tech at any other track that elects to inspect your car. All drivers must be present during tech.

--The tracks will open 30 minutes before scheduled race time to the scheduled end of racing Monday through Thursday, though adjustments may be made pending unforeseen circumstances. Scheduled race times are as follows:
--Monday 9/9 (Beech Bend Raceway) 8:30a - 1:30p (Central Time)
--Tuesday 9/10 (Lucas Raceway Park) 8:30a - 1:30p (Eastern Time)
                      -- Wednesday 9/11 (Gateway Motorsports Park) 8:30a - 1:30p (Central)
                      -- Thursday 9/12 (Memphis International Raceway) 8:30a - 1:30p (Central)
-- Friday 9/13 Finals (Beech Bend), gates open at 8:00 a.m. with Racing from 9:00p - 2:00p followed by Awards presentations.
-- On race days, there will be three run groups:
8:30 to 10:15, All classes other than Daily Driver

12:15 to 1:30, Open to all classes
Breaking up the run groups does several things: 1) Allows the fastest cars to run on a fresh track, 2) Creates planned breaks for additional track prep, 3) Allows us to separate staging lanes by class when needed, 4) Makes lines shorter, 5) Allows the faster classes to watch the Daily Driver racers run and vice versa.

                          Last section of the PDF

                          THE BASICS
-- Digital Camera: Each registrant must provide his/her own smart phone or digital camera to verify their required checkpoints. Each racer’s car must be positioned in the photo with the unique checkpoint identifiers that are detailed in the driving directions. Remember, if the parking lots are small or there are a lot of racers there when you arrive, use common sense and get the photo from across the street or wait until the lot is clear. Pictures must be of good quality and we may ask to download the images, or receive the images via email (older camera phones may not be a good option).
-- HOT ROD Drag Week windshield header sticker and 2013 racer numbers/class designation: You will be given your racer numbers and windshield header at check-in and they are required to be in place on your vehicle in order to compete.
-- Exceeding maximum legal speeds: ET slips that are quicker or faster than the legal speeds will not be accepted. Cars that excessively or repeatedly exceed the maximum legal speeds for their class may be removed from the event at Event Management’s discretion. Daily Driver class ET slips quicker than 10.80 will NOT be accepted during the week or during eliminations.
--Mandatory Drivers’ Meeting: Beech Bend Raceway will open its gates at 8:00 am on Monday September 9th for the first day of competition. There will be a mandatory driver/passenger meeting held at roughly 8:30 am before racing begins. Drag Week competition begins at the close of the drivers’ meeting.
-- Tow Rig parking: Beech Bend Raceway has a space where trucks and trailers may be left behind during Drag Week competition. All competitors who intend to use the area must secure their trucks and trailers before the start of the drivers’ meeting on Monday, September 9th. Access to the area will not be available until after the close of Drag Week racing on September 13th, with the exception of racers who have forfeited the competition and need to pick up their tow rigs during normal working hours only. Only by way of forfeit or withdraw from competition, arrangements can be made to pick up your tow rig by calling Beech Bend Raceway during normal business hours at (270) 781-0524.
-- Withdrawal from competition: In the event you are forced to drop out of competition, you must leave a message with your name, racer number, class, cell phone number, and the reason you are dropping out. Phone number: 310-363-4231.
-- Rain delays: In the event that a day of racing may be rain delayed or rained out, competitors are still required to drive the entire route to that track and must check in at the drag strip during the scheduled hours. Hot Rod Drag Week staff will be at the track to check in racers and provide additional updates and information as needed. If we can dry the track and race, every effort will be made to do so. Note that we have reserved Saturday 9/14/13 at Beech Bend as a potential rain date should we need to.
-- Note that there will be a charge for spectator admission for each track. Monday through Thursday admission is $5 over age 12, and Friday 9/13/13 Finals at Beech Bend admission is $10 over age 12. HOT ROD Drag Week participants and their credentialed passengers (i.e. those riding in the competition vehicles ONLY) will not be charged admission. Please make sure your passengers are present at Tech in order to get their passenger wristband.
