I spent time on the TurboAction Cheetah site. It looks good and I like the additional switch gear option on the housing, kinda like Jim's. They don't mention an AOD specific version so a phone call is in order. The rear cable exit is really good for the tight tunnel on the Fox with the 2.5" primaries and 4.5" collectors and the 25.5 cage hogging all the room. It's an aluminum casting right?

The Precision Products pages no longer work which is too bad as they look good. That leaves me with the B&M Pro Ratchet like BBR or the Winters/Cheetah or whomever sells that one now per Rich. I like the ability to integrate the line lock button so that has me leaning towards the B&M.

Thanks guys, great advice as always.
Just FYI, mine is the Pro-Stick. It is not a ratchet.

Bill, the top plate / gate stuff is aluminum. The internals of the body, I believe is steel as well as the mounting brackets and channel.

I have a Turbo Action Cheetah and love it. My second choice would be a quarter stick.

shoot I thought they did have an aod adapter already.

I did find this old quoted post/ response though. A guy used a B&M adapter and his logic seems pretty good. Sounds like the shift spacing between gears is the same also. Good idea to call Turbo Action if it's still a candidate.

The reason I figured I could use the Cheetah with a AOD is that while looking in the Summit catalog I saw that most of the shifters advertised used the same part numbers even for different model transmisions. If you look at the B+M Megashifter they use the same shifter for almost every aplication, BUT with the AOD they use a adapter. The Prostick I believe was the same way...they also used the Chevy Turbo 350 shifter with the AOD adapter to make it work in AOD aplications. Because of this I figured a Cheetah probably would work the same way so I ordered the Cheetah Turbo 350 shifter and a AOD adapter from B+M. You might be able to make a C4 Cheetah shifter work as well with a AOD adapter....im not sure about that though.

Anyway, it can be done.....im the only one ive ever heard of that has done it so far but it can be done without too much trouble........Good Luck.........John

Well after talking to Turbo Action today.. As lond as I can get the linkage correct at the tranny the shifter will work. The said the gate spacing is the same from a C4 to a AOD so If I can get the linkage and cable hooked to the tranny it will work..

I modded my shifter in 2011 by moving the line lock button to the right side and adding the GV manual activate button on the left. I have to parts to redo it taking my time and I'm thinking I'll leave the linelock where it comes installed. That was in 2011 so I can't remember if there was any other reason I moved it over.

Bill does your AOD need 4 forward gear detents? I think my buddy John Turpen's AOD just uses a regular D-2-1 shifter (Or the stock OD-D-1 shifter) with a switch to activate O/D.

Like John's my valve body uses a conventional 1-2-D-N-R-P from back of car to dash, so no funky stock AOD monkey motion. The Mega Shifter is a ratchet shift set up and I'm so used to it I do not want lose that functionality. As such I think can use a standard Turbo Action C4-C6 unit.

James, that Pro Stick is not a ratchet style shifter? So you move it one detent at a time?

To be clear Rich, the Turbo Action is a ratchet in terms of upshift, right?

I like your line lock plus GV switch on the shifter idea. I have an OD lock out switch I have to use with the Lentech valve body and that would be an ideal place for it.

Yes one detent at a time. I have a reverse pattern valvebody. The 1-2 shift is locked out from 3rd. So you pull 1-2 as hard as you want to, then for 2-3 you squeeze the handle and yank to 3, drive through the traps, squeeze handle and jam it all the way to N, coast to turnout.

Bill, not Rich but NO, it is not a ratchet shifter in any direction - it is gated.

I suck at posting pictures but if this link works it should show you some of the options on the gates for these shifters http://www.turboaction.com/frame.html and then click on the SHIFTERS in the box on the left.
