I wonder if the stamped steel trigger wheel would have any issues with big hp and the vibrations associated with it?

So...... finally tracked down the part number for that spacer. F6TZ-12A227-DA Discontinued of course. Google searches yield nearly zero hits.
Gotta keep looking I guess.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Trigger wheel for a Ford 4.6L Dorman - 917060

I was looking at these when looking at options on the Firebird. Never held one in my hand though. I wouldn't think vibration or inertial loads at 7,000rpm would be much of an issue. How far does that hatchet stick out from the centerline? Hopefully the trigger wheel sticks out further.Escaped on a technicality.

That would be fantastic, if........ my engine was internally balanced and if I didn't mind spending $345 on a spacer and wheel! Yowza.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Gotcha. Externally balanced is the stopper because of that hatchet counterweight thing-a-ma-bob.
Why can't it be sliced in half and the thickness of the wheel taken out of it like the non-hatchet one? It looks possible in pictures.

I suppose that's possible.
I was thinking of turning the od of the hatchet weight spacer down a smidge to leave a small locating lip, then opening the hole in the wheel up. Slip it on and stitch weld it in place.
Looks like I can get that Dorman wheel from Oreilly's for $20. Little more than rockauto, but I could have it here the next day.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Better solution may be to just buy this billet spacer/weight. It is only a few bucks more than a stock hatchet and would not need to be machined. It appears to fit partially inside the harmonic balancer, so that opens up even more room for the 36-1 wheel.

Spacer came in today. It's a little different from the pic in their auction, but is closer to what the stock one looks like.
The hope is to open up the hole in the 36-1 wheel to slip over the machined lip on the spacer and weld it in place in about 3 places.

Before you weld them together, figure out where you are putting your crank sensor. You'll want the missing tooth to be several teeth PAST the sensor location at TDC. The MS doesn't like less than ~20º, and I bet the 2.2 board MS1/extra likes it even less than the newer firmware.Escaped on a technicality.
