  • 3.4 liter DOHC oil leak

Is anyone familar with these? My friend has a 96 Grand Prix with this mess of a motor in it. Its got a hell of an oil leak from the side of the motor (firewall side) its not the valve cover gaskets or the rear seal. What is back there? Oil pressure sender? Oil level sender? Something else? You cant see anything back there just a oily mess. Any ideas?

Oil pressure switch.. best would be trying to clean the area and find the switch.

Oil pump drive seal? The oil pump drive is basically the lower 1/2 of a distributor....famous for leaking oil on these. IIRC, You can't remove it to replace the seal without removing one of the heads. You can pop it up enough to split a distributor gasket and put the gasket on under it though. Good luck!
