  • richmond gear question.

I just installed a richmond 410 ring and pinion on an eaton elocker carrier in a ford 8.8 rear end. The problem I have run into is I set my new ring gear to the carrier flush and torqued to spec. the problem i am having is the ring gear interferes with removing the pin to clip my axles in. has anyone had to machine down the back of the ring gear to gain clearance to remove the pin to set the c clips into the axles. I realize if i cut the ring down i will have to reshim to get my backlash back into spec.

I may be wrong but I don't think you have th right parts...
The cross shaft has to clear. Maybe go to a "C-clip elinimator" kit

That was my thought... either that, or "he's doing something wrong"... but I have so little experience with rear diffs, and none of them in a ford 8.8 ... so I go back to the peanut gallery.

Please let us know what it turns out to be.

I think there is a special cross shaft available.
