the forged .030 over domed pistons we are running are rated 10.75 compression with a 64cc head,
these are 72cc heads. im pretty sure we are good compression wise. and as you said, even
if its "only" 9-1 it will still be FUN !!!!

thanks rodney ! now i just need to bolt on the heads, cram the converter

aaaaaaaaalrighty then, after a bunch of "fun" traveling to mainland and back,
i hit the 1 time a year auto parts swap meet this weekend--sadly wasnt nearly
as big a turnout as we hoped for, but still found a couple gems.

bought a new in box accel blueprint HEI with coil for $30, and a set of real
cal custom finned aluminum valvecovers for $40--and they had bolt on moon
standoff breathers already installed on them.

i also snuck in a "100% hotwheels" 2 car black box set when mama wasnt
looking--its the 'AMERICAN GRAFFITTI' set with yellow coupe & black 55
        chevy...$20 !!!

so those go in the parts pile, working on getting a headgasket set and head
bolts next, then drop on the 2.02 summit heads & swing her in is the plan...

got the set of energy suspension motor mounts
and matching trans mount, now i just gotta find the
time to chuck it all together--that 3rd vette we got
(the 77 that likes to eat distributors) is just killing me...

i either gotta find out whats wrong with it or strip it
already, its taking up the stall we need to do the pink
            motor swap into the 79....

anyway, its in and bolted down. now on to the fun stuff--
trans cooler, shifter, carb, distributor, hoses, fuelpump,
etc etc etc..... Click image for larger version

Is it the carb itself or a combination of the carb and air cleaner? The reason I ask is that you could do something like what I did on the Volvo and use a 90* offset elbow off the carb to gain a ton of clearance. Other than that I have no clue.

air horn holds hood 1-1/2 inch open. gonna have to either
cut hood, or change intake to shorter...

im over in maui for a bit, so work on the silver bullet has to wait
till i get back, but....a quick perusal of what we spent so far has
us coming in at right around $2400 thus far, so i think we MIGHT
actually pull this guy off for the hopefull $3500 total...we shall see !

honestly, even if we end up hitting $5000 i still think thats pretty
cheap considering it will have all new motor/ trans/ brakes/ ujoints/
rims & tires/ etc etc etc... luckily it already had a new radiator
and full true dual exhaust with headers when we bought it without
an engine or trans in it.

AND, its still a really nice vette, so factory 4 way discs, decent
handling due to engine setback, decent suspension, etc...
overall, a nice little fun hotrod for mama to cruise to work daily.

she says hurry up as she wants to drive it already, hah hah.....

                            ok, a swap to a torker II intake and a 14x2 low-profile
mr gasket aircleaner has us underhood. nice. now onto
the billions of other things--transcooler, shifter, fan, driveshaft,
gauges, pulleys, belts, brackets, etc etc etc.....

did you know that a "correct" corvette waterpump and pulley
uses a 3/4 center pilot instead of the more common 5/8?
i figured it out when the new 2" long fan spacer wouldnt fit
                              over the center pilot...

a half hour of holding the spacer in my hand whilst reaming
the center with a unibit has us back in bidness.

                              fun, fun, FUN..............
