  • My 1953 GMC Suburban

Here's mine. It's a '53 GMC Suburban that started life as an ambulance for the U.S. Army. Then the Colorado Forestry Service used it for awhile until it found it's way into a bran for about 30 years.

Right now it's in bare metal. I haven't came up with a color yet. It's got the usual 350/350 combo, Mustange II with the crossmember raised and a four link with a sevin inch kickup in the rear frame, and bags all around. It's a driver and we have a ton of fun with it. We also have a 1931 Chevrolet.

          Re: My 1953 GMC Suburban

Some how it doesn't look quite right to me sitting that low...

          ( this from a Bville guy )...

Don't get me wrong... I love the ride...

Anyway coming home tonight I saw an Army Jeep paint scheme on a CJ7 ... just looked wrong... but got me to thinking that the Air force actually had a Nice Blue that would look fairly killer on a Generic project...

          Just a thought...

I also have a former U.S.Army ambulance. Has the same vent, too. You can follow my build at http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=615824

Looks more like a Chevrolet than a GMC.

Pretty cool old Burb! My '69 Suburban also started life as an ambulance or emergency vehicle of some sort. When I replaced the headliner I found 4 holes for various sirens or lights that had been patched and flushed out from the inside.

I agree Keith....vehicles that look like they can't be driven, don't do much for me. Maybe I'm just too old and set in my ways to get into the latest fads.

But I dig old Suburbans. And I sure remember that old Air Force blue color....it was all they used on their trucks in the 1960s-80s, I think.

I can see several colors on that sweet ride, don't know that you'd care for any of them. I dig it.
