  • Chevy '66 Panel Van For Sale - Should I ??

    Hi all,

A neighbor has his '66 Chevy Panel Truck up for sale, but not knowing much about them, do not know if it is a good deal or not.

The body is super straight, with some minor rust in rain rails (probable repairs in quarter panels), has an epoxy black primer paint job and a '98 camaro 350 with 700R4 tranny and no interior. He said it runs great and is his daily driver.

He wants $12,500 for it as is. I was thinking it was worth no more than $10K so was thinking of starting the negotiations around $8K.

    Whaddya think?
    Should I or Shouldn't I ??
I will try to get some pictures today ..

    UPDATE:
OK, it is not a van. It is a truck panel.
Everytime I go by to take a picture he is out driving it.

Here is a '66 example (with windows) ...

Here is a '64 example with the panel side:

    ... does this make a difference ??

I don't see many of them around ...

IMHO, he's way on the high side for his asking price. Primer paint and no interior and he wants 12.5? Maybe when you post pics it'll change what I'm visualizing in my head. In the mean time, pull some of the panel sale ads off of 67-72chevytrucks.com site and show him some on there, it might change his tune.

Seems like a bit much....hidden rust, not guts, no paint,....8K maybe...it sounds reliable if its his DD but....looks like he may have the BJ fever...

I would say no on this one. Definitely not higher than 10k. I'd say if he lives close tell him you'll give him the 8k and leave your phone number. Eventually he'll either find a sucker that's not you, or want it gone.

Here's one that is still stock, but for the price you could do a lot of upgrades before you hit what he's asking.

If it looked as good as that one; restored with a mid mileage
motor and no rust, MAYBE. 12.5k for primer and a stock 350?
You could do much better. Like Nik said, you could buy a stock
panel and make it more powerful and to your liking for cheaper.
