There are two runways; 9,000 x 150ft and 10,701 x 150 ft. the Starting Line is the northeast side of the south runway.

We race into the wind, which is from the west but the track drops down at the 1/2 mile, then levels out at the 3/4 mile.

Brick, I've been there to run stock production cars a measly three times in total. I can say from that limited experience, I would recommend it to ANYBODY who wants to have a heap of fun. The people there running cars, the folks running the show, the spectators who want to ask about the cars, it's just a total blast. A lot of waiting to make the next run, but that's great too, waiting in the middle of a BIG collection of cars and motorcycles (some of them REAL fast) and the people who brought them.

And like you, before I went there the first time....it's easy to over-think it. When you get there, everybody's racing under the same conditions. I did exactly the same thing, wondering about direction and wind and stuff the first time. I'd just say go do it. Absolutely.

I ran the very first Mojave Mile back in '10.(My avitar is in the staging lanes there) Had a TON'O'FUN there. Big Red hazing the tires at 130+ is quite a sight ! Would be a riot to come back East to run Wilmington ! If money was no object, I'd run a similar schedule and variety as the Red team.

Our very own Brian Lohnes got some ink (or air) on Hot Rod with his article on the Top Speed Challenge.
