Rendezvous is a classic for sure, first time I saw it was about 15 years ago. Love the part where the pedestrian gets the crap scared out of her.

      I want a ride....

Does anyone know what model Ferrari that was?

Thanks for the link. I'm reading a book about Cannonball and he references that vid. Apparently the cars you saw stopped (at least some) were blocking traffic so that he could make his run.

Seth, according to this > http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2005/Rendezvous.shtml it was actallly a Mercedes 450SEL. Cliff notes copied from said site

"C'?tait un Rendezvous is the creation of the French filmmaker Claude Lelouch in 1976. Using a Mercedes 450SEL early one August morning, Lelouch attached a camera to the bumper of the car and sped through the streets of Paris. (The sounds of a Ferrari 275 GTB were added in post-production.) He gave the driver a set route from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur, which is straight through the heart of Paris. The driver is still unknown to this day, because Lelouch was never able to obtain a permit to close the streets. The driver, who Lelouch told officials was an F1 racer, went over the speed limit and blew off many red lights. When this film was first shown, Lelouch was arrested, and because of this, the footage has spent many years underground before it began to resurface on DVD a few years ago. Lelouch used a new technology of the time, a gyro stabilized camera mount, in order to mount the camera on the car. The problem with this is that the technology of the time only allowed for a ten minute film with this mount. Lelouch told his driver to rush because of this time limit, and the video itself is only about nine minutes. In our velocity graph, we used all footage of the car when it was in motion."

I've heard about this film for years but have never seen it. It looks like an absolute blast, not sure the 6 month jail sentence would be though. I don't think I'll be trying it in my Montego anytime soon. :D
Just groovin' to my own tune.

I'd heard about this too, but had never seen it. Thanks for the link, Turk! That was an absolutely beautiful trip through the city. Was it just me, or did I notice several early '70s Mustangs parked on the streets there?

Wow what a vid I found my self leaning in to turns as it progressed.

Well I have stopped buying stuff for cars I don't own. Is that a step in the right or wrong direction?

Re: Cool old video... Ferrari in Paris

In the book, The Greatest Movie Car Chases Of All Time, Lelouch talks about the film for the first time and reveals all, except for the actual make of car used. Lelouch did the driving himself and had a camera assist. in the car with him to remotely adjust the aperture settings. He and his crew had just finished shooting the film If I Had To Do It All Over Again and had about 1000' of film left and decided to do this. Apparently he was arrested when the film was released
