I did look up how much a new trunk pan was, $750 or so. Still about perfect for what I'd want to do with it though less rust would obviously be better. L36 3800 V6 out of an F-body backed by either a 4L60E or a 5L50E, cam it up to ~250hp with as strong of a bottom end as imaginable. Disc brakes and a good check would be all I'd do the suspension till I could afford to work up a good package of parts for a nice cruiser.
What I really like about a 4dr is that the comfy and supportive interiors from sports sedans work better since you don't have to worry about getting a seat that folds to get the rest of the family into the back seat.Last edited by CTX-SLPR; June 3, 2015, 07:20 PM.Central TEXAS Sleeper

as close to a dream car as i will ever dream.
..and not sure what took me so long to find harry metcalfes channel. I am a fan of the older journalist.
this is a car thread, but have a desire to add this kawasaki.
a strange but true story..
the kawasaki fan cooled snowmobile remained the king of snowmobiles for almost 15 years here locally.
2 cylinder 440.
after it outran the arctic cat it was sitting in, you could find it in home made stuff.
it was not until the liquid triple carbed, it could be found in a junk pile...my own was a 1974. Running in the mid 80s.
My neighbor at the time had a 1981 subaru.. lo and behold we somehow figured kawasaki invented the alloys used for subaru engines.
Still do not know if it is true. Kawasaki is much older than subaru however, with pioneers engineering proven.
They could speak up with a lot more pride from several companies. Japan is not that way to do so.Last edited by Barry Donovan; June 7, 2015, 10:29 PM.Previously boxer3main

humble choice today. I have decided on my new venture. Ok, that is a pun.
1700 for this one. Needs the normal stuff.
1996 5 speed 5.7 liter.
I was ice fishing with my brother this past winter, a guy pulls up starts talking..
he pulled his sled and trailer there with truck like in the photo. Slush all over the roads, ice...
thought nothing of it. Laughing about 10 inch wide mickey thompson.
anyway, I am going for winter/summer. I like my 4x4 5 speed that much. Want another one, go fast truck.Last edited by Barry Donovan; July 3, 2015, 08:15 PM.Previously boxer3main

So I still have the Vega, which is a lot of fun, but I've always been partial to Mopars. Been thinking a lot lately about getting a '70 Swinger. I'd put a rack in it and drop the front end, back half the car and drop in a 440 with a Pro charger. Keep everything under the hood and paint it that lovely lime green colour. Of course Mopars are out of my price range now, but it's still nice to dream ;-)

I had mentioned 69 was my favorite.
this one blew my mind.
I had an 84 grand prix LE. That came with 150hp 305, but it stayed typical pontiac.. the front had the two openings that allowed the lower engine to stay cool..odometer rack over twice. the first crap 305 I had ever seen go that far on one build. 240k or some crazy number close to that. Unheard of from that generation.. lucky to see 60k most of the time. No one even remnoved the out of control EGR. Just bizarre luck I guess.. until thinking of those two openings up front as the grill/facia.
shifter on the floor, flunky white velour interior, T-tops.
it reminded older people of the first firebird/trans am.
much wimpier, the 1980s. Although, I had no complaints with monte carlo SS, also 1984.
This is one nice car. I have been obsessed with manual tranny lately as well. Video hit a sweet spot.
I'd probably seem evil for wanting to upgrade to a 5 speed, and 3.9 rear. 15 inch, 60 series...235 minimum width.Last edited by Barry Donovan; July 9, 2015, 07:28 PM.Previously boxer3main
