I just read a post where owner wants an nv4500 5 speed hacked into his 2500.
I remember a 4 speed hacked in local from the 80s.Guy drove it until the steel simply could not go any further...miles unknown.
I think of the manual hacks and suburbans.

I like mine... $2K purchase price and I've put maybe another $2K into it so far though it needs about another $1K to get it all functional and a good driver again. It's a 98 K2500 with a 454 and 181K miles. Makes the perfect vehicle for doing just about everything (that doesn't need an open bed) that I don't do very often. Get a 3/4 ton, the components last longer.Central TEXAS Sleeper

originally, I was going to buy a wrecked 'burb and use the engine/trans/etc in the 72 truck. now, I need a backup dog hauler and camping vehicle - I really don't want another project - I have plenty and that's kind of the basis of the whine - one more vehicle to take care of that I don't really care about.Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

rent one. I think Capps rents diesel 4x4's 4 door trucks, that's pretty close to a Suburban that you don't have to move in the yard or pay insurance on all the time - do you guys have one up there?
Or is this just click bait and you bought an Excursion because you are tired of working on Chevy engines all the time and just want to drive something without needing a full tool kit?
