1982 had the tiniest trars out and about. Thee subaru ea81. 4 speed dual range.
not everybody went the way of 2 inch frame rails of a nissan or toyota.
my neighbors, the shortest of which towered at 6 foot 4 used to maintain and drive one.
the choices were limited for sure.

I am five foot 9 and warped a hiatal tract for driving one too long. I kept one going (still do) for 17 years.
