    Friday Night at Bob's

I didn't work yesterday so I decided to head up Bob's Big Boy and hang out. (No, I didn't take pics because my camera was sitting next to my computer and I forgot it.) I ran into Groucho and his 60 Pontiac. What a totally cool car. Then I met up with John McGann and we braved Bob's food for dinner. Afterwards, Miles Cook came by, he got laid of from his Sourceinterlink job at Mustang Monthly. Then they hired him back as a contributor for near nothing pay for his tech column. He sold his 66 Ranchero right there last night. Chris Campbell, now formerly of Hot Rod and Hot Rod Deluxe, came by. He just got laid off too. Sourceinterlink SUCKS!! They now want him to be a contributor at no pay because Freiburger, Marlan, and Kinnan can't get out enough content to make a magazine. McGann looked pale at hearing this news. Campbell has to get his stuff out of the Hot Rod shop before they change the locks. This whole situation sucks.

I really feel for these guys. The ones that still have jobs go in every morning wondering if they are next to get a pink slip.

The good news was there were several hotties up there last night. Made for some nice eye candy. One was driving a custom 54 Ford, one drove a duece roadster with no windshield and had SCTA numbers on it. She had her flying cap and goggles, but had worry about bugs in the teeth with no windshield. Several more hotties came with boyfriends. This is nice change from the mustached cows that I usually see there. I may have to show up more often.

Man, that would so cool to hang out at Bob's.

Sorry to hear about the car guys getting axed.

Sounds like it might've been a little 'nipply' there last night......... ;D

Oi, that does suck for the mag guys. We were sitting around in the same boat for a week last month. They let 25 salaried folk go here (two in our technical service department, which honestly both should have been shown the door a year ago), out of a bit over 500 employeed here it's a relatively small cut I think, and no hourly people were let go, but that week was keeping us shaking in our boots.

It sucks I have to work Friday March 13th, I'd have like to go to Bob's again. It getting warmer down there?

It's warm during the day, but last night by 7 pm, it was freezing. Most everyone was looking for their jackets by then.

Yeah, if you are working Friday, are you going to make Goodguys on Saturday?

Oh yeah, I'll leave work between 2-4pm and should be in So. Cal. between 10pm-Midnight. Plenty of time to sleep a bit and take a hose to the car. Speaking of which, you want to meet up before GoodGuys, or just look out for each other there?

I hope for a high of that today! Maybe into the 50's tomorrow! It was 20*F at 8pm last night and 12*F going to work this morning.

As a real, honest-to-God half-a$$ed author I feel for those guys. The state of print media seems shaky at best. I haven't met Chris but Keith says he's a stand-up guy and that's enough for me. His Rustoleum paint article alone earned his pay for a year - lots on interest on line=mag sales - I think. Maybe not enough, but it wasn't Chris' fault.

Best of luck to all of them. We need talent like those guys.

Randal, we can meet up before that way when get there, we will probably be parked together. I think I got McGann talked into running his ex-cop Crown Vic. We'll see.

I got sunburn yesterday, so when the temps dropped last night, felt colder than it really was. My Vans weren't keeping my feet warm either. I got weenied by living here in LA. When I lived in Nebraska, I'd shovel snow in a sweatshirt and vest.

I believe the Sourceinterlink suits have their ties on too tight and it's cutting off the circulation to their brains. They're laying so many people and believe that one guy can put out a major publication. Of course, none of these guys work in the same building as the editors. I think Jerry Pitt is the only one in contact with them.

truly sorry to hear about his loss of job , probably hard to get the cushy pr jobs that so many of our magazine heroes graduate to , the ford dealers are not even hiring
