A TOYOTA something or other. My wife's '92 Corolla has almost 200k and has held together amazingly well. If I was going to buy something for myself it would be a mid-'80s TOYOTA pickup, they're indestructable.

I guess it depends where you live, here they hold up pretty well.

my 1996 Lincoln Towncar, now at 280,000 miles STILL HAS the original: starter, alterntor, water pump, fuel pump, injectors, valve cover gaskets....Hell it is easier to list the stuff it needed. plastic intake manifold broke, one radiator, one set of front control arm bushings, 3 sets of spark plugs, 3 sets of brake pads, one set of rear air springs, several sets of tires and oil changes/trans services. the 92-current ford crown victoria, mercury gran marquis and town car platform is the top choice of limo and taxi companies for one reason-they just hold up!!

I know that we generally dont foreign made........but I have had 2 Honda Accords both reached 230K in miles 1987 & 1990 model. Both cars ran extremely well & I had only major fix the 90 model. Another good vehicle for me is our 1995 Ford Explorer 180K on it the major issue on it was the Firestone tires that we replaced for free at 75K with Dunlop tires then now I have a set of BF Goodrichs on it.
That steely eyed look I had behind the wheel was me trying see..........

We'll have them around for years.
Re: Top 10 Well-built cars/trucks of the last 25 yrs (1980+)
Top 10, well my top 10:
G-bodys, got quirks but you still see them everywhere
W-bodys, good solid fun cars but they do have some issues
H/G-bodys, tons and tons of these things running around and they are easier to work on than the W's
Ford Fox platform, it was under everything no FWD or a truck and I still see lots of them around from stock to modified
Ford Panther platform
late 80-90 Honda Accords tons of them around in increasingly worse cosmetic condition but still going
GM 88-99 trucks, everywhere man
pushrod Ford trucks, the mod motors ones are common but they all have CEL's on
Ford Explorer
Chevy S-10

You can't beat a Taurus with a 3.0. Her last one (97)is at 200k and no major problems. My 97 Neon dd just reached 180,000 and I have no complaints. It may be my best purchase ever. I Love to beat on it and it's quick, too.
