Been a weird day. Driving down town through town, not speeding, I go past a bus that was stopped in the middle of the street, and then a cop coming the opposite direction flips a U turn and tailgates me for about two miles. Cop finally breaks off, and then I am driving down the road and my car stops running and coasts to a stop. I get out, check things over, nothing is apparently wrong, so I got back in, it started and I went the remaining mile a half home just fine. Weird. Just had to share.

Re: Weird....
Is it raining or damp today? That won't explain the cops behavior - but might explain why your car died.
Does your car have distributor, cap, rotor, wires?
If so - make sure things are dry under your distributor cap and that your wires are in good shape from there to each plug.
The only other thing that comes to mind would be ignition module, sometimes those get warm - short out, cool down, work fine, warm up- short out again...

Re: Weird....
next time it does it, check for spark. Much more likely to be an ignition issue. Also, replace the cap & rotor while you're in there. Then look at the old ones and see if they're worn out. Have an older gearhead show you the difference if you're not sure...Originally posted by 98ciHemiThat could be, has been damp. Has new plugs, some kind of aftermarket wires (came on the car), haven't pulled the cap yet, but I need to set my timing so it will be coming off soon. Felt like a fuel issue though.www.realtuners.com - catch the RealTuners Radio Podcast on Youtube, Facebook, iTunes, and anywhere else podcasts are distributed!Comment

Re: Weird....
Are you real low on fuel in the tank?
If so - I suppose it's possible that the pump / pickup were sucking air when it stalled - or - you've pulled all the gunk from the bottom of the tank into the pump / filter and it quit....
I'm not a gambler - but, I'd bet on the distributor / wires being the issue. There's always something new to learn.Comment

Re: Weird....
Just filled the tank. Dads theory is that it takes as much to keep the top half full as the bottom half, so he makes me keep it on the full side. What about Carb icing? We have to deal with it on planes, could it be happening on my car?Comment
