at what point does a car become a missile? the only thing that has in comon with a regular car is they both roll on round things.

Back in Oct. Noble and Green anounced a joint venture where they were bound and determined to do 1000 MPH. They got a website somewhere...engine from a YF23 i think...oh...and a rocket motor too....somebody's gonna see Elvis baby.

It has a third engine, a v-12 that powers the fuel pumps for the rocket.

I got stuck watching several of the military jet supersonic fly-bys that are "related". Man... that F-18 fly-by between ships at sea, shot with a video camera that actually gives you an idea just how loud they are up close... freaking wow!

... and that Blue Angel fly-by at some sailing thing... holy crap! Could you imagine being in one of those boats close to it, and not knowing it was coming!

I wish that they could do a supersonic fly by at the Daytona 500 (or the 400 in July)... but I'm afraid too many windows would pay the ultimate price (as well as unsuspecting eardrums), so that will probably never happen.

Anecdote:
When Dessert Shield turned into Dessert Storm, a couple sonic booms preceeded the air raid sirens that sent us into the bunkers in full mop gear. It wasn't until some time later that we learned that they were sonic booms, not bombs... so we were quite willing and eager to get into our mop suits and into the bunkers. :P That sort of fear/adrenaline rush tastes like a 9 volt battery to the tongue.
