And they had a sign that said "sorry that we are not stocking certain magazines as our supplier is no longer distributing magazines". Is this a sign of the times or is this the beginning of magazines going the way of the dinosaur.

Re: Was at the store today
I haven't seen a Car Craft Magazine on the shelf in months. That makes me worry. But it could be the Ely market, though I didn't find one last time I went to CA either.Escaped on a technicality.Comment

Re: Was at the store today
they will. it might be , a different way..Originally posted by DanStokesHRM shows up in my mailbox and I rarely ever buy a mag so I haven't noticed this phenomenon but I'll keep and eye out. Hope the mags stay in business.
Dan
monthly downloads.. at ---- per download.. or a yearly fee..
and instead of newstands, they'll be ads in google/etc for the mag..
paper media is all but dead..
news papers are folding left and right..
anything. paper is looked at as "bad"
and as seen as we're into 2nd gen. of greenies..
the written word on paper ,die'n isn't a big surprise..
they'll always be books..
but useless news papers and mags.. that 80% end up in the deep 6 folder..
will not..
their may come a day.. when the post office.. is nothing more than a package shipper..
as mail'n letters/bills will cost to much..
as fuel cost. will go back up..
paper /letters and odc's may end up.. being faxed from one point to another.. by the post office..
and the receiver picks it up. at they're local post office..
the days of mailmen/women.. dropp'n mail at your house daily. is also coming to a close.. it might not end..
but I can see it going down to twice a week.. for home deliveries.. and 3times a week for biz addy's
and pay'n extra for . rush service..
labor cost, and fuel cost. will make this happen.. as no one will pay 75c to a buck to mail something..Comment

Re: Was at the store today
I'm surprised retailers still dedicate the space they do for magazines. IMO, magazines will eventually follow the path of newspapers. More and more peeps get their news and information on the internet.Nitrous, baby!!...Comment

x2, I haven't gotten any post card or letter saying my subscription will end, but it does concern me as I think I'm down to only Car Craft for subscriptions, and purchase the occassional Hot Rod and Popular Hot Rodding mags (that's when I notice no CC)Originally posted by Malibu RanchI got a letter from my subscription provider today stating

Re: Was at the store today
Maybe THIS has something to do with it?
Two weeks after threatening publishers with separate 7-cents-per-copy price hikes, a pair of major magazine wholesalers, Anderson News and Source Interlink, have decided to cease operations, according to a source at Comag.
When contacted by FOLIO:, a Source Interlink spokesperson declined to comment ?on rumors.? Anderson could not be reached for comment.
Last month, a week after Anderson News announced it would increase its price by 7 cents per copy, Source Interlink said it will be raising its own per-copy distribution rates by 7 cents.
Combined, the pair account for about 50 percent of the magazine market.
