    2009 Camaro - $7,000

I thought that would get your attention ! ;D

I'm refering to a recent article in Chevy High Performance (April 2009) about GM Performance Parts offering a ready prepped, all-white Camaro package (includes; front fenders, hood, roof, doors, rear quarters, trunk lid, complete floorpans and chassis rails) for $7,000.

Apparently racers just add the powetrain, fuel system, suspensions, and interior components, then go racing.
    What do you think ?
Is it good value for money ?
    ???

Cool -- IMO the value depends on what sort of donor cars (if any) will work for suspension and other parts.

Now if you were building a super stock drag car and needed to build your own chassis anyway then I'd say this would be expensive, but no more so than building any other race car from scratch.

I'd want something with a VIN also..I may need to drive it home from the track if the tow rig won't start !

I know when you build a motorcycle from scratch, the DOT gives you one of their VIN's for the frame.
Why can't the same be done for a car - as long as it is streetworthy ?

          ???

any holden parts and gto parts will work for the front suspension. The rear is proprietary to the new zeta platform. So maybe brand new holden zeta cars for the rear. It would be better to build a scratch built solid axle setup for the rear anyways. the irs is weak sauce in these

I forgot to mention that in the article, the GMPP Product Marketing Manager stated, "Drag racers, for example, won't have to worry about swapping out for a solid axles - they can just bolt one up and go."
