    Anyone have...

One of these little video cameras? It's a JVC model GRD770u. I've lost the cd that came with the camera with the software on it to be able to transfer the video from the camera to the puter for editing and stuff. If anyone has one and would let me borrow the cd (or could copy the cd) I'd ship it right on back to you after I loaded the junk on to my 'puter.

    Anyone? Bueller? ;D

Here's what the camera looks like for reference.

According to this just pluggin it in will work
Under "Connecting to a personal computer: Using a DV cable"... By the way, once you get the firewire port working on your computer and plug the camera in with the firewire cable, you do not nee their software. MovieMaker is bundled with Windows; iMovie is bundled with Macintosh. No camera specific drivers are required.

I have a sony camcorder that looks about like that. It works with firewire without any software, but requires (hard to find) driver software to work with USB.

So...if you're trying to use USB then you're screwed, but if it has a firewire connection, get a firewire cable (and adapter card for your computer if necessary) and you might not need the disc.

But Adobe doesn't have the driver for the camera, does it? I really really doubt it...that's a separate thing.

And Brian--be sure to get the right kind of firewire cable, there are a few different flavors!

How do I spec out the proper one? Pin count or something?

Just look at both connections, and make sure the cable has an end that will fit each. For example, the end that goes to the computer could be a small sized one if it's a laptop, or a big one if it's a desktop.

Brian--did you try to find the driver software here? I don't see your model listed, but the ones for the 700-800 series cameras might work. And save you buying a cable (they're not cheap)

theres only abour 4 different types of usb cables, a-b-c-d all the plugs look completely different. shouldn't be too hard to find what you're looking for.
