....but I thought I'd let you guys know that although my non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma seems to be under control, I have now been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The doc is waiting for the results of today's bone scan and then we will meet and look at alternatives. I know several guys that have been through all of this successfully and that there are alot of new treatments and techniques that are very good. The doc seems positive and I feel that way too. Hopefully we can get done what needs to be done fairly soon, so I won't miss too much of the summer car season.

I'll pray for you.
You're worried about bumming us out? You're a strong man.The official Bangshift garage door guru. Just about anything can be built using garage door parts, trust me. -

Sorry to hear that Joe.....If you get on it quickly though it can usually be treated. My father in law was diagnosed a year ago and he has had great luck with the Hormone Therapy. Although I have also heard good things about the Cyberknife.
You will be in my prayers.

Dad had 'em both... like, waaaaay the hell back. Close to 20 years, I guess.
He's still around. Just retired from Chrysler on Thanksgiving, and is coming down to help me thrash in my shop to get the walls, wiring and everything else done I should have finished before the cars were in it.
He's always been a "glass is half empty" kinda guy, and even with that attitude, he hasn't missed a beat.
You'll be fine.

Don't be silly about Bumming us out, we're like a support group here be it an illness for cars or whatever. Prostrate Cancer isn't the big scare that it used to be, I know of several guys here locally that have had it and are doing fine years later including my Wife's Uncle.

Re: I don't mean to bum anybody out....
Joe and I had this discussion a week or so ago - I kept me mouth shut as I figured it was up to him to share - or not. Joe is a LSR friend of mine. He's a strong and decent man and I'm proud to call him my friend. I'm sure he'll pull thru this one given his internal strength and the state of medicine today. He also has a good wife and special grandkids to live for (I guess his kids are OK, too!). I keep telling myself he'll be OK - and I truly believe he will.
Call if you need/want to, Joe

Re: I don't mean to bum anybody out....
Man, I hope all goes well. Recently on our local TV medical section on the news had a segment on prostate cancer. There's a new belief that in some cases it doesn't need to be treated but rather monitored. Apparently in some cases the cancer doesn't grow or spread and best left as is.TomOverdrive is overrated
