Unfortunate, yes but happens all the time.I lost respect for "Snake"years ago when he got upset because he got burned down.He said"I always stage last.Everyone knows that"Didnt see that in the rulebook that year or any year after. He even says they"Grew apart".Just like a divorce there is going to be hard feelings and someone always loses some $$$$. -

This is how these guys make a living, had i been in Dixon's shoes, I'd have most likely done the same thing, I still have tons of admiration for all involved, these people are all huge successes.Comment

You have to look at it like a marriage.
If your wife/girlfriend came home tonight and said she was leaving you for a guy with more money than you, wouldn't you be more than a little pissed? Especially if you'd always treated said wife/girlfriend as best you could during your time together?Comment

I don't care who they are, we all do this stuff for different reasons. His reasons are no more important than anyone elses. The Cars that made most of them legends, would'nt even hold up in todays Standards.Comment

What Snake did with the Greer-Black-Prudhomme car, the Hawaiian dragster, his Hot Wheels partnership with Goo$e, the ARMY cars (the Monza being the first 5-sec car, the total domination by the Arrow), the guy did it all and didn't have endless amounts of money doing it. Paul Candies and Big John Mazmanian and others had more funding, however Snake had the talent and the drive. Some say he was an "ass" back in the day, he had his race face on all the time, and that was the name of the game.
Drove the crewcab, the racecar, worked on the engine / clutch. Most any of today's drivers could not carry his lunchbox.Comment

Not sure how to respond to part of that statement. The cars back then were state of the art for their day. Look at how fast the nostalgia fuelers and funny cars are running, that tells you how good the designs were. Back then the driver was even more important to the car, usually the driver was also the tuner, sometimes crew chief.Originally posted by Fordplay0621I don't care who they are, we all do this stuff for different reasons. So Bob Brandt,Keith Black, Roland Leong etc had nothing to do with his success?Candies&Hughes and Big John had more dollars??Got proof? Alot, not all of todays drivers just need to bring $$$$ Which is sad but the way it is.Comment

You obviously don't know much about Paul Candies as example. Big John was loaded, read up. Snake was the driver, early cars, a great driver, toured the country, won a ton of races. He'll be the first to say that Keith Black was a brilliant guy, but later on in his career he called the shots, Bob Brandt was listed as CC, Snake called the shots.Originally posted by ksj1So Bob Brandt,Keith Black, Roland Leong etc had nothing to do with his success?Candies&Hughes and Big John had more dollars??Got proof? Snake started out as a car painter for his dad, hardly a big-bucks guy in the old days. A legend.Comment
