Never take the front halfshafts out of a 4wd Jimmy/Blazer, and then drive it. Bad things happen. Had to go pick up my sister's jimmy today because we took out the front halfshafts due to some unrelated issues. When I first looked at the car, I would have sworn that the tie rods were gone. the front wheels were splayed outward about 25 degrees each. After jacking up the car to look at it and taking off the wheel to check things out, the brake rotors FELL OFF. Along with the mangled wheel bearings and spindles. Fun. It is bloody hard to put a car on trailer with no front wheels. Soon I will have the pictures of the mess. Just never, ever, EVER take the halfshafts out and expect to drive it.

Re: Carnage
I've never done that, but I've learned some other lessons the hard way. Like, don't try to get home when the serpentine belt shreds even if you are only 4 blocks from home. You won't have power steering and curbs come up real fast when you're used to the power. When aluminum wheel meets a concrete curb, the curb wins every time. Felt like an idiot! -
