    53 Chevy panel truck value?

A friend has a 53 Chevy panel truck that was bought new by his Grandfather. If I remember correctly it is original except for side mirrors and one re-paint. Stored inside for all but the last two years of its life. It is very clean but not a show vehicle. The fact that he doesn't have inside storage and his current financial situation is forcing him to sell.

Any thoughts on its value and were he should try to sell?

THIS... THREAD... IS... USELESS... WITHOUT... YUP... PICS!

Seriously, try Old Car Trader online, Hemmings Motor News, even craigslist. Try paneltruck.com...

I couldn't find panel vans, but the '48-'55 trucks I found were all over $10k, except the stakebe, which was $8500.

I agree with Tony - no pics=useless. We can better help if we can see what we are appraising.
Hauling ass & sucking gas are the best uses for a truck.

OK, it took me a while to get pics but here they are. I did some searching on the net as well and came up with a few ranging in price from $6000 for a real project to around $15,000 for a couple hot-rodded ones.

So, what do you guys think? Is it worth $15,000?

Hey, Mike, I really like that truck but $15,000 sounds high without looking under the hood - - It's probably is stock - RIGHT? so if that's the case then I would say $8500 and hope the floor pans were good.

My bet is you could get 15,000 or even more for that rig... those are extremely popular right now among the resto rod/ rat rod set.... heck, if my uncle could come up with the cash; he'd probably buy it (he can't come up with the cash )

Without looking at the other replies, I would give $8k for it.

                  Nice piece.

I think you guys are right, expect to be able to get 8 for it but it should be worth 15k if the right guy comes along (and he still has a job)

Go to stovebolt.com and post over there. They should be a big help--lots of enthusiasts specific to that era truck.

Prices for most vehicles have come way down in the last year. I think you'd have to find a guy really looking for one of those to get $15K out of it. Not saying it isn't worth it, but nothing is selling for what they did 12 months ago.
