Sure depens on the rest of the car...if it has a race car look, then pins would fit right in. If it's a modern street sleeper looking build then probably not.

I think it would be ok either way, although it looks like you're trying to make it look really nice, in which case the hood pins would stand out.

If it had more of an old-style scoop on it, then pins would be the way to go.

I use two pins in the front and the stock hinges (less springs) in the rear. If the hood is braced well, should be no problems.

From a purely looks standpoint - I say avoid the pins - or go with something like the 70 mach1 twist lock pins that look more finished.

As far as the safety of the hood - that would depend entirely on the structure of the underside of the hood.

If necessary you could add some reinforcing ribs of epoxy resin mixed with a variety of fillers and / or cloth weaves of different thicknesses to create additional structure or create attachment points if the hood does not already have such items.
There's always something new to learn.

I say no pins, but I like a cleaner look.

And if you decide on going with the pins, use the latch to. Better safe than sorry.

the latch keeps the center down during high speed blasts.... pins look cool.
Either that or reverse hinge it (love suggesting twice the work to someone else )
