Today is my Seventeenth birthday, and last year, just before my sixteenth birthday, my parents bought me a 1982 ford Escort to wrench on and eventually drive. I repainted it, fixed most of the problems, and have been waiting for a job to get it on the road. Eventually came today. I walked out of my automotive class this morning to find my car sitting front and center in the parking lot, with Mom, Dad and Sis standing out around it. Then I saw a license plate with up to date tags. Then I got to take my first car out on its first legal drive with my Dad. I am on cloud nine. Just had to share.

Ahhh... nothing like that feeling.
I got pulled over for running a stop sign the first day I was able to drive my own vehicle legally.

That is so cool! I remember my first drive in my '73 Torino also with my dad, I was 15 1/2 and just got my permit. Down pacific coast highway from Newport Beach to Dana Point, I did pretty good except for running that red light. :-[Just groovin' to my own tune.Comment

happy birthday! it's cool your parents are letting you work on it. you'll learn a lot more than the kids whose parents bought them a new car - when you're my age, you'll look back on the day and be glad it worked out this way.www.realtuners.com - catch the RealTuners Radio Podcast on Youtube, Facebook, iTunes, and anywhere else podcasts are distributed!Comment

Re: !!!!!!(words cant describe)
Way cool. Good luck.
I remember, on my 10th Birthday, doing the match and realizing my 16th would be on a Sunday. The DMV isn't open on Sunday. I had to wait until Monday after school to go get my license. It was still a killer day.
