My kiddo's 70 camaro is also still original in the drivetrain department, but way fewer miles on it. Runs fine, goes 1500 miles on a quart of oil.

An older guy that worked at the Pontiac/GMC Dealership I worked at in College had a '69 Pontiac Lemans 350 he had bought new in '69 because he couldn't afford a GTO. He said there was well over 600,000 miles on the car and the engine and trans had only been out once in the 70's to install a factory hot cam for the Pontiac. Being a dealer mechanic though his car got regular engine and trans fluid changes. The rear-end had never been opened though, he would mudder something about the whale oil in it from the 60's was better stuff than today's gear oil. The car unfortunately was subcoming to rust from the vynle top trapping moisture.

There was a guy last year or the year before that made the news when his Chevy or GMC rolled over a million miles. I thought I remember the General trading him a brand new Silverado for it. Anyone remember this?

Although not an American car, I recall a guy clocking over a million miles on his volvo... and yeah, they bought it back from him and have it in a museum...so the story went.

Toyota has done the same.
I know of an 89 pickup(pre-Tacoma) w/ 22-R engine that had 999,999miles on it.

Toyota sent a flatbed for it, and left the gentleman the Tundra of his choice.

I just bought this with 240,000 on it. Other than normal wear items its had one transmission and valve seals replaced. Runs like a top. Not a million miles but impressive I think.

actually there are a surprising number of vehicles on the road with over 200,000 miles on them - and they are not all diesels by any stretch.

Heck - Seth beats the living crap out of his chevy van work trucks and gets rid of them at 200k.

There are guys at work with over 200k on tauruses, rangers, escorts, you name it.

I think the days of 100,000 being worn out are long over, anymore - 100,000 is time for some major maintenance, and put it back on the road for another 100!

Over the road trucks run a million miles all the time - maintenance!

My '01 Dakota has 206,000 miles on it. It's running rough right now, probably because it needs spark plugs.
