Went to the dragstrip and got stuck in the snow

I spent the day at the Merrill Ice Drags yesterday. It was everything I hoped, and more. Some very fast cars there of every description. Cars built just for ice racing, as well as ice and asphalt cars. Several Novas with engines set back clear under the cowl, a center steered Gremlin, also with a healthy set back, and a 4 speed 55 Chevy originally built in the 70's for ice racing. 5000 or more screws into each rear tire, a chore that takes 8-10 hours per tire. Plus the friendliest bunch of people you'll ever meet. When they found out I was 250 miles from home I got many dinner invitations for gatherings at local restaurants. These guys hook these cars up, with many 8 second 1/8 mile times.
Dress warm, and hit the ice drags if you can, everyone should see this at least once.
Heres a few photos I took. I'm no photographer....the low sun made shadows on everything. They use snow for very effective guardrails, so pics from the spectators area weren't that good. I was not allowed where they let DF set up.

Man, my blood isn't thick enough to do that. Some interesting machinery that's for sure.
