Last night we visited the local Mustang dyno shop (C&S Motorsports, Omaha, NE) with a fresh-outta-the-oven Typhoon.
This is a European (german) model. The headlights, taillights, and some interior bits are slightly different from the North American versions.
Engine is a high-rent built 4.3 with the updated Vortec heads and intake. Upgraded air/water intercooler, 4L80E trans, set up for dynoing in 2wd mode. Precision's GT35 turbo, dual ball bearing yadda yadda...
On the Mustang dyno (notoriously conservative numbers with auto trannies!) we made 390whp and 480wtq only spinning to 5000rpms. This is on 20psi and pump gas (we added 3 gallons of 110 for safety). Anyhow, most of the night was spent finding best timing and fuel for a street tune. If you consider just a 30% drivetrain loss, that's 625 ft-lbs of torque at the crank. The motor wasn't even breaking a sweat, no signs of detonation on the plugs. This one's a nice driver that is going to have a wicked low sixty foot time.
We plan on coming back with some exhaust upgrades, different fuels, and more boost.
Owner also wants to do Drag Week, or any other Car Junkie type of event for streetcars!

Sounds like fun! Is the 4wd drivetrain going to be ok with all that power?

Did you convert it to RWD only? I really like those I almost had my wife buy one when we first got married, but she couldn't confortably reach the pedals. She is too short 5ft .

truck already has an alky control kit on it. Meth and pump gas aren't always a match made in heaven but we'll play with that on the next trip to the dyno. Owner wants to "ease into things"
Dan, I'm not sure how it got from Germany to here, but the car was picked up in SoCal and driven back to the midwest last year. It received a body and paint treatment last winter, the powertrain came together during the summer and it's just now ready to make power.
The trans, t-case and rest of the powertrain are all properly built to handle this kind of power. We're hoping to go high 11s on pump gas, faster on better fuel...

A couple guys are in the nines with the same build of drivetrain. His engine combo is a bit more tame, he's going for a nice reliable daily driver that will run 11s and get at least 20mpg. I think he's going to nail that goal pretty easily. It should be low mid 12s on the current state of tune - 3 psi picked up 50whp on our last pull, I think with good fuel we still have a lot of room left to go. The turbo is not even in it's efficiency range yet. This guy is great to work with, patient, puts things together properly, takes his time but gets it done. He wants to sneak up on the big power making sure everything else holds up OK.

Can i ask what Meth kit you have on the truck right now?In the turbo buick world the Alky control kit is the way to go,i've not had race gas in my V-6 since day one and have had up to 28 lbs of boost with zero knock.
What size turbo is on the TY?

It's an "Alky Control" brand. Same thing you're talking about. I've used them before and like them. The controller takes a bit to learn but it's very tunable.
Also it's a GT35 Garret turbo, by Precision.
