Well, this will be the last meet of the year for the ECTA.

More on this after the September meet is over (I just wanted to beat Randy to it !)

I SHOULD have the car there. I just ordered a new front header and I found out the problem with the oill pump. A trip to the lumber yard to raise the trailer bed and I'm there.

I thought it was interesting that there were 83 runs over 200 mph during the last meet, ranging from a car doing 200.07119 to a bike at 259.85613

DanStokes
October 3rd, 2008, 02:43 PM
You guys who aren't Maxtonites - the guy who ran 259+ was DISAPPOINTED with the run! Seems that the fastest run ever at the track is 260.3 (that's close, anyway) and he was hoping to break that record. If my car ever goes over 200, I'll be happy whether or not it's a record.

Update on the Firecracker-- The long-forgotten(or so Wolfe Racecraft would like)
parachute mount is in the mail! It only took.... 2.5 months to build :( What a load
of BS on their part. Anyways, the T56 re-build is nearly complete; not sure how/if
the N2O system is going to get done in time for October... I need to get my shop
powered up so I won't be waiting for others to finish the work... The entire
team will be C licensed(hopefully getting close to B) this year, though.

fahrenschnell
October 10th, 2008, 06:12 AM
Luke hasn't received it yet....should be at his house today or Monday....

I looks like a great unit.....

I guess Wolfe is having supplier issues due to the Economic Situation....and they also have had quite a few fabricators leave the company recently....

I will say this though....they knocked 30% off of the price to apologize for the inconvenience....That makes a big difference to me.

Indeed it is, the mount should be at my other(read: for sale)
house. I'll check it out when I go there tonight. Now all I need is a
car to put it on!!!!(Should be done by Monday...)

Here's what we'll have on the old girl--

Full cage w/ Kirkey seat & RJS harness
Firefox dual 6.5lb suppression system
Moser 9" rear w/ TrueTrac diff. & 3.25 gears
LS6 intake w/ P&P Nick Williams TB
Stage 2 T56 rebuild
Battery relo. kit w/ cutoff switch
Wolfe chute mount w/ Stroud LSR chute

Not a LONG list by any stretch of the imagination, but
keep in mind that 99% of this stuff has been done since
the April meet. Lots of time, money, etc. I'm happy with
the progress, the product and how we've put the car
together: safety first, strengthened parts second, put
more power(i.e. built 6.0 w/ GIANT blower) last.

I'll be there, along with my buddy Kim (some of you may remember her from last year - September, I think). Anyhow, no Camaro, though. Header isn't done. I couldn't have gotten a new set in time, either, so I'm screwed either way. I did get the new studs and lug nuts in place - Keith wanted the big studs and 1" nuts, which I have on the front now. Rears won't fit my little bitty axles, but I did get a set of longer studs that at least are long enough to extend past the nuts.

See you this weekend

Keep us posted on this - enquiring minds want to know.

My goal is to go there with Seth in the next couple years - is there an NA diesel passenger car class? ;-)~

Somehow I don't think the ranger would be a good candidate - unless I get real good at swapping ring and pinion sets in an 8.8 'tween now and then. I don't plan on lowering it either to keep it easier to work on at the track - so - aero is dismal to say the least.

Some of us did end up at McDuff's for great conversation, some drinks, and a good dinner. Runs will start at 8:00 tomorrow morning. Today started off pretty crummy, but ended up with lots of runs in a short period of time. Lots of interesting machinery.

I didn't get to run today....And Luke was waiting when they shut down...

So.....I am #5 in line tomorrow.....We left the car in the staging lanes overnight...

I am going for D(125) and C(150) licenses....Hopefully we will have time for multiple runs....

It looks good as long as there are no big oildowns....

Racing starts at 8 am.....Going to bed to rest up....I will let you guys know.

Sarah is going to run a 125 pass if time allows....In Gretta's Audi or Ian's BMW M3...

Good Times.

Seth

fahrenschnell
October 26th, 2008, 05:44 PM
Okay.....So here is the scoop.

Today was perfect for racing....Sunny but not too hot....BigBuds came out and helped with staging.

Our Team accomplished its goal....Steve(WhiteMonster) got his C License (150mph)

Ian got his D (125mph) but had "clutch issues" for his C run and only got 145....

I ran 3 times....

First time out I uncovered the fuel pickup at the top of 3rd and had to coast through at 105.....Fail.

Second run at 125 for the D license.

Third and Final run was 151.7 for the C License.....Sweet.

We got 6 total runs in 8 hours which is outstanding....If you guys haven't been out here....Make it a point to come next year.....

We will be back for the 2009 season with a LOT more power.....and more Tire....

Seth

PS....please volunteer if you make it down.

It was fairly uneventful in shutdown. A few issues but not too many. As has been said Sunday's weather was perfect. With three of us in shutdown it allowed us to rotate of and on somewhat. Ken spent Sunday morning making a couple of passes on his Triumph then spent the rest of the day with us. You simply cannot have too many volunteers. At least from this volunteer's point of view.

I was one of them! I can't thank Terry enough for letting me take his ride down the track. It was the second best highlight of my weekend. The best was putting the truck back on the dolly without having had anything break. We did not go nearly as fast as we wanted BUT it held together. My son Chris looked over the motor this week while I was at work and thinks he knows what our problem was. We will know more this weekend. Then it is time to pull the motor and re-wire and paint over the winter.

I'm back from Mi and it's time for my usual post-event note.

First of all - THANKS to all the volunteers who make all of this possible. Seems like we've attracted a lot of new folks this year and it's really super. Along with our old hands, it's getting easier for all of us. I spent most of my day on Sunday watching the track and being ready to fill in as needed - this is good.

My friend Kim came from Michigan (she was there last year for the October meet) and worked Time Slips with Sarah. A couple of babes never hurts when it comes to keeping racers spirits up! Kim was deeply disappointed when the GT's clutch failed. She works for Ford and wanted to brag about how fast it was. He's getting real close to 200 once he looses the "torque converter" effect.

Hope all had a great time, and I urge all who haven't made it to come see us. It's a BLAST!
