Well here is my project started in 1992. Finishied in July 1994 (enough to make it street legal). Been driving it since.

Go for it!!!! If I were to do it again I would use a Ls series motor with a turbo or supercharger. Smaller tire out back to keep the "stock" look. My main goal with my beetle was get the motor under the original hood and make it look as stock as possible. I also wanted to keep up to all of my friends with the Chevelles, Novas, Mustangs and even "the Mat" (adam 12 Matadore).
Oh, I know you don't work there anymore but what about Herbie for the top 100? Empi inch pincher was a good one.

We considered Herbie but decided it was not so influential that it deserved a spot. We could be wrong.

Thanks John, In a time of wild pro streeters (1992) I sorta went against the grain. I prefered the "pro stock" look. No fancy paint and a muscle car interior and engine compartment. I even painted the old engine compartment in the rear with trunk paint.
