Gran Torino guys - frame rail width?

My search-fu sucketh this morning. Hauer's CV front end in the 66 has me wanting to do the same thing, but to something like a Ranchero. Let's face it, I'm a redneck. Yes, I owned an El Camino once.

Anyway, I can't find the frame rail or track data for the 72-76 Torinos?

I don't think a CV front end is going to be a straight up bolt-in for a Torino. Like most full-framed American cars of the era it has the spring pockets in a kickout of the frame rail, so you'd have to deal with that in some way. I think a more likely solution would be to put a Torino body on a Panther chassis, or clip it. However, if you're really determined to do it, I'd bet my reputation as a know-nothing that it follows most Fords of the period and is, in fact, 34" wide, it seems to be a common dimension for Ford engineers.

look for an older Ranchero..like a 66-71-They are unibody cars..like the 66 Mustang.
