Will a Pontiac 455 crank fit in a 400 block w/o machine work?

I know of a bad 400 Pontiac engine with a bad crank. If I got it, would a Pontiac 455 crank go in it w/o a lot of machine work?
    Thanks!

Without machine work, no. The 400 has a 3.00" main and the 421 and 455 have a 3.25" main.

There are stroker cranks available for reasonable prices that sort of negate machining an original crank down.

I googled "will a pontiac 455 crank fit in a 400?" and found this:

Thanks, man! I appreciate the link, somehow missed that earlier. This has possibilities for the old 400 block......I think I'll investigate this deal further. Thanks again.

        Check out Butler Performance...

Price seems way reasonable for a forged crank. I doubt you can machine anything and get forged for this money.

Thanks, man. Having a history with Mopars, Ponchos are new to me. Butler looks like a Pontiac candy store!! Thanks for the link.
