If Anyone Cares......

ME and I are back from a 3300 mile trek around the USA. Truck did yeoman duty and never missed a beat while averaging somewhere around 22.5 MPG (high of 25.4, low of 22.1 by the on-board meter).

We raced at the Ohio Mile (no longer hold the track record for C/DT as someone showed up with a LOT more done to his engine than I have). Then on to Michigan to see some old friends, across Lake Michigan on the ferry (fun) to St. Paul for Grand Daughter spoiling. From there to Denver (overnight stop in York, NE) for Aunt Maxine spoiling (almost 93 and absolutely with it). Then down to San Antonio to see Brother Dave & bride, to Atlanta to see our daughter Marsi, and finally home. We're TIRED!

King stayed at Doggie Camp while we were gone but in spite of Kyle's (the camp director) best efforts The Knucklehead still can't play fetch. Still, he had a great time being in a pack with Kyle's 3 mutts. Back to King's hum-drum life now.

So I'll be online for a few weeks then off to Bonneville for Speed Week, then home again.

Hope all had a great few weeks. There's no catching up on BS when you've missed as much as I have so I'll just pick it up from here.

Too bad about your truck record at Ohio getting smashed.

My record is still sitting there, just waiting. That's bound to look like a worm on a hook to somebody. I got up the gumption to call Keith Turk yesterday and ask him outright, "How fast can I go?"

I already knew it, I just wanted to hear it from him.

He was distracted, cutting 4 acres of grass at the time. But I got the gist of it. Red can't go any faster than he already has without me getting yelled at by Keith.

I don't want that at all, won't do it. I'll not be "that guy."

Good to know you folks missed me! As I missed y'all.

But it WAS a great trip, especially meeting up with family and old friends.

PW - the other Diesel truck didn't exactly "blow me out of the water". I ran a 111.7 and he came back late on Sunday and ran 112.1. He has enough done to the engine that it blows lots of black smoke at the line so he probably has big injectors and maybe a bigger turbo. It was SO hot and Diesel performance goes in the dumper when the intake manifold temp goes up. Hopefully September will be cooler or maybe I can rig up something to chill the intercooler (maybe spray nitrous on it?).
