Dont think this is right- alternator

Keeping this one short and sweet-

Chevelle keeps running batteries dead. at first we thought it was because the brake switch was jamming up from little use, but then we discover this the other day cleaning it (see pics)

Correct me if i am wrong, but shouldnt this be a solid bolt/stud into the alternator for charging? It doesnt look like it snapped- more like it is way too small for the hole.

that's a stud that connects to the output of the alternator diode assembly. Disconnect the battery...repalce alternator, or take it apart and put the nut back on the inside.

You may find that stuff is broken inside, or you may not, I've seen the nut get loose, but not fall off (or have the stud break, which is possible too).

If you don't have a spare alternator for parts, you may end up getting a new one.
