    Wasted last two days !

Decided to tackle the rear discs one the GTA again . It's been about 3-4 yrs. Smashed my thumb with a falling caliper and the concrete that my hand was resting on ! Then went to hook up the driver's side line and it wouldn't screw in. Figured it was because of my thrubing thumb and laying up side down under the car .Went back out today after work and it still wouldn't thread .Took the line loose from the axle to see if that end would(Thought that possibly I may have cross threaded it,) It didn't .So I go back to Advance Auto and they had one more it wouldn't work either.I took the bleeder screw out and it seems they drilled the line hole the same as the bleeder screw . This is probably going to be real fun since I turned my cores in at a different Advance Auto on the way home from work. Auto zone doesn't have them in stock and the last ones that never really worked right were from NAPA .Looks like tomorrow I be visiting Carquest and O'riely . Funny the one one the pasenger side was fine.

I never turn in cores till the job, or work is completed, just for those reasons

If it were always easy... we wouldn't do it... nor would it be fun ;D

Hang in there, sometimes you just have to beat the car into submission.

Does it still have the original style iron calipers on it? They're notorious for not working at all. Have you done the proportioning valve mod to boost the pressure to the rears?

I wasn't really looking for any help on this just wanted to vent but , I do appreciate your ideas . I 'm not sure about what you mean proportioning valve mod .But if you meant did I change it when it was converted ,no it was factory with 4 wheel discs. I have replaced it with a new one from master power brakes, and I did tell them they were all discs.

P.S. yes on the iron calipers I think they call them PBR's .

I'd definitely go with O'Reilys over Advance Auto. It seems like the quality of Advance Auto's stuff keeps going downhill every year. We don't have O'Reilys out here so I use Auto Zone for most of my stuff, but I've bought O'Reily's stuff when I've been out at the in-laws place in Missouri. They've always had the part I need in stock (even a couple hard to find parts) and it was the correct part every time. The people at O'Reily's seem to be more knowledgeable than most of the other places too.

Well............gulp............this is where I swallow some pride and eat some of my words. Seems that I over looked a little brass block that was still atatched to the old caliper core it was still on the old core ,my fault . I hate it when that happens!

got the calipers on and now I'm sitting here wasting time till someone gets back home so I can have a car to get a new line ( seems that the threads don't want to start because of the aluminum nuts are softer than the cast iron I was trying to screw them into) .

Alright it's 12:18 my time just got done having wifey pump the pedal while I bleed them ! She's a keeper . She also didn't want to get up at 5;25 to take me to work 30miles one way. Best brakes I've ever had in the for years that I've owned the car and fighting this problem . And yes I'd be willingto do a three way burn out! It'll prolly take something like that to beat "BURNOUT STEVE" .
