View Full Version : The 32 Ford Roaster

So we're in Australia earlier in the year and I spent a WHOLE day beating David up about the 32 roadster he was building... or not building as the case maybe... What really blew me away was that Tonya was Totally into it... she loved the car... hmmm

I'm sure Freiburger can embellish the story of how I talked him out of it... but basically I just wore his nappy butt down... beat him into submission and offered him "Just" enough money to make it happen... I picked it up from LA back in the spring and have been whittling on it in the shop for the last few months...

The car is a TCI Chassied Roadster that David designed to roil the back hides with.... 468ci Big Block with dual carbs and a 5 speed... ( God only wants us to have sticks... )

Since Tonya's so in love with it... I'll have her get some pictures up... until then check out the shop in the back round...

I keep seeing pics of this thing, but no actual car. I think they have just photoshopped a pic from the mag into their shop - at least, THAT was cleverly done.

All BS aside - it's good to know:
1 - If David and the mag resources aren't going to finish it, then Keith and Tonya will do it up right.
2 - It WILL be driven. Probably hard. No Riddlers for this rod.

I do look forward to seeing the Roaster, hopefully at Maxton, even though I don't think they plan to add the safety stuff to allow it to go down the track. Hey - he brought the sissy BMW!

Tell ya what Paul.... You get a kitchen pass... come down here and help me sort out where I'm going to stick the wiring harness and then help me finish up the basic's.... and you can go for a ride... if it don't fall apart by the time we get to Sonic... I'll let you drive it HOME....

To include the requisit Burnout...

On the road or in your pants???? :D

Doesn't Tonya get the official maiden driving duties?

KeithTurk

Once this thing runs... there's a real stong chance I'll never see the keys again....

there's a small garage on the house and a shop out back.. the Healey currently lives there.... Our plan is to take over that spot with the 32 and start a restoration on the Healey... ( did the first one 25yrs ago.. )... so Miss Tonya is going to have unfettered access to the Hot Rod... Hmmm

But hey... it also means she's the one that will wear out those tiny tires and make us get some larger ones... Hmmm

When do ya want to start?

KeithTurk
November 5th, 2007, 05:32 AM
I figure it's going to take three days tops to drive it to Sonic... one day to do the fake wire install.... ( this is where you are sitting on the milk crate trying not to burn those wires while your holding them together )

a Day at a muffler shop along with brakes and more wiring...

the last day to quit smiling...

K( you pick... I'm here )( or in California the next week or so )

Dude, it's Alabama. They barely have indoor plumbing. Forget a close airport.

Hello
I love the old Fords. Having a 468 with dual carbs and a five speed is a man after my own heart
I really like it

Thanks Tom... The Big Block Concept has taken on a new meaning to me in the last couple of years... I've always been a Short stoke, big bore fan.... usually measuring in the 298-299 ci range.... Freiburger's introduced me to this Big block gig and it's been... to easy and equally amazing... I do have a DZ block and crank in the back of the shop that's not destroyed... I'd have to take some compression out of it... but it would be fun...

But Honestly I've always... and I mean since I heard the song... Wanted a 409... not a 348... but a dual quad Moon valve covered... 409.... has to have some grunt... cause I'm not into girly ass motors, even on the street... Least not in a Hot Rod...

Just whittling on it... got the motor about ready to go back in... was going to play with the Alternator bracketry today... while it was out.. thought it might be easier then trying to do it in the car again...

Hmm whatelse... the Dash is almost done... VERY happy with that .... and I'm having a few issues with the Painless wiring gig... when you know a bit about what your doing... following someone else's logic can be kind of tough... Just accepting that this kit works without questioning it has been a bitch... seriously...

Hmmm I'll let you guys know...

Keith

KeithTurk
January 17th, 2008, 07:08 AM
OMG.... heard the car through the Mufflers today for the first time... LORD... David... you got enough Cam in this motor?

Freaking thing sounds truly Wicked..... Had to have Tonya there and she was BEAMING... She can't be happier... TONYA IS dying to drive this thing.... Me too... but I'm actually more patient... ( this from a guy who hasn't got the fan situation sorted out yet )

Hmmm

Hey KT, did you say that beast had a 5 gear in it? What are you thinking!!! :o
Besides you'll need to put blocks on the pedals for Tonya.... sheesh...... now I've gone and did it..... :P

KeithTurk
January 17th, 2008, 07:10 PM
I'm not sure where I'm going to sit when she takes me for a ride..... but the seat actually slides forward far enough for her.... course her theory is that she Only needs to reach the Gas pedal them other ones down there are highly over rated.... Hmmm

I have been dying to see this thing finished since its first article. Let's see some burnout videos. I would also love some good pictures for wallpaper on the PC. Bring it out to Maxton so I can see/hear it in person. Have I mentioned that you have the coolest wife ever. ;D ;D My wife wouldn't even want me to drive it let alone ride/drive it.

Same way he usually is - Tonya's doing the heavy lifting.

I think tonya shrunk 5 inches since the last time I saw her!!!! The weight on those tiny little shoulders is emense and we all thank her dearly for it. While keith on the other hands is not shrinking but growing in the mid section.LOL

Keith told me that his circumferential enhancement was carefully planned to increase the ballast in the Camaro without having to secure it. Live and learn when you're around The Director!

With the Maty boys help we really have sorted out the starter finally... it's been slightly more then difficult... The guages got finished yesterday... I ordered the seat foam and swatches of seat material...

So on and so forth... my intention is to bring it to Maxton for the Top Speed Challange... ( and maybe a bike or two )

Remember Seth, these guys are in Alabama. I've heard that they are still out hunting Naugas - it takes hundreds of the little devils to make a whole interior. Guess they don't know that you can buy 'em pre-skinned and on a roll.

It sounded Good when you started it up in the Garage, minus the few Backfires.
The look on the Kids faces when Tonya took them for a ride was Priceless.
Hope all is going well.
