Thanks David Alkire - Sales Manager/Year One

Back on March 24 I ranted on Year One (see Year One say it ain’t so……junkies beware)

Guess who is a Car Junkie? David Alkire the Sales Manager at Year One. Dave contacted me directly from my email address in my CJTV profile. Dave apologized for the sales experience, offered to honor the previous price for the car mats plus gave me a $50 credit. The deal is done with the new mats delivered and the credit card statement as Dave said it would be.

While Year One may have some kinks to work out regarding their posting of catalogs on the web, they handled my gripe in a stand up way. Much obliged David Alkire/Year One

Thats GREAT to hear. It really is Customer Service that makes one company stand out from the other. Thanks David and welcome to CarJunkie.

sadly tho..it took a manager on an automotive forums to recognize the short falls in customer service...Props to him making it right!

            Hey Joe,

I don't see it exactly that way. I think the beauty of the situation is that he is keeping himself in the same places his customers are. Not only that, he acted to fix the situation.

I think any kind of enthusiast minded business or operation needs to keep enthusiast minded people in positions of authority for just the reasons we saw here.

If David was a 9-5'er who hopped into a Lexus and couldn't identify a 1955 Chevy this situation would have never been fixed. His head and heart are in the right place.

No no no, maybe I didnt make my thoughts clear, I think the manager hanging out in a place his customers do is great idea, many others should do the same...and the fact that it was fixed is fantastic, but it should not have been the manager on the forum that fixed the problem, the people on the phone should have got a manager and fixed the problem right then and there...I see the fault being with the customer service rep that was on the phone at the time...this person did not lean foward to make the situation right so the guy in the forum didnt have to fix it.

Glad to hear everything is okay with Year One, now. The fact that your post here on Carjunkie was seen by the Sales Manager says a lot, and he took his time to make it right says even more. They'll get my business, because I know where to post my gripes now! ;D

                        Oh yeah.....

In another light, it's neat that a high ranking player at a major aftermarket company is hanging out here with regard to all the talk about promoting the site.

If Mr. Alkire is watching....I'm sure he's not the only one from a large aftermarket organization keeping their eyes peeled on DF and Chad (although they may wince when Chad slips a bovine some tongue action...he he)

If your in business there are going to be issues... the only way not to have them is to do NOTHING... so... it's not he issues it's how you deal with them...

Seems like a couple of stand up folks here...

didn't care for the original bitching... seems like you could have done that to David on the phone rather then on the internet... My personal opinion...

I hear what your saying Keith, but there was a communication problem within David's system that he became aware of because of the complaint posted here.

                              Dan I understood that part...

as an owner, I always want the option before it's aired publicly... Like most guys who have ownership in a company... I won't let you be unhappy ... right up to I decide your that .05 % of society that can't be pleased...

I'll tell you something interesting that I'm sure you know already... you don't have to be the physical owner to have ownership in something... ANY employee that has ownership is worth his weight in GOLD... he feels that it's his responsiblity and right as an employee to make people happy ... and if he can't then he sends you to someone who can... ( then the higher up's can decide your that .05% )...
