I hate to jumble all my pics in one thread, but I finally got Photobucket to cooperate so I'm going to post while I can. The pics might be kind of big, too, and the last time I shrunk 'em they went to pot and I think that's when Photobucket got mad at me.

So here goes-

Thanks. The pit is a place right now, but I'm brewing plans to set it up better and shovel it out. The 'Stang is hiding in front of the Camaro, also awaiting me to polish it up a bit - it needs it!

I just noticed that the dash bar in the Camaro is the mock up I made out of conduit. The real one is welded in now, but is basically the same shape.

Nice pics Dan.

A helpful hint. I use Irfanview's free version. It's really easy to resize pics with it before dumping them on Photobucket. You can also mess with pixel rates, brightness, and such. It's really easy to use for those of us with no Photoshop talent.

I'm not sure if it saves any fuel. I understand you have to hook onto it with an ATV and drive around in circles to wind it up - the spring's too powerful to wind by hand.

You were right when you said it was a cool car a Maxton...it's awesome.

I have always been a Pontiac guy deep in my heart as my dad restored (and still has) a 1964 GTO hard top when I was a kid.

Your shop is killer. I have a question...how thick a slab did you have to pour for the floor?

Nice Shop Dan, I like the lift a whole bunch. Wish I could fix that Mustang up for you, and shoot it down the track a few times. SO when do we move in? I have to be out of here May 1st and be on the road to the next job on the 5th.

Should'nt that Wooden Wing on the Dash of the Buzz Bomb be mounted on the Outside?

I think if you checked the right box on the order form at the Pontiac dealer it would be delivered with a small tractor just for that purpose!

NC must have backed WAAAAY off on the building codes concerning wind-load.

Used to be (there) no wood-framed/steel skinned buildings over portable size limit (12 widex ? ft long, no structure over 8ft sidewall)

Unless you know someone in zoning??????hmmm?

Here in SC, if you live (basically) within 40mi of the coast, no pole-buildings since '98.

It was cheaper for me to keep my old house (3car detached w/attached 2 car carport) because it was paid-off and buy a new house in '01 (w/ attached 3car) than build a new, larger garage at my old house (big enough to give me the same space!)....just because building costs were so prohibitive due to wind-load restrictions!.... and my nephew owns a construction company! >

Look again. All steel, all the way. The trusses are on 8' centers to get the engineering signoff I needed. The building kit came from Kentucky Steel Truss Building Co. in (hold your breath) Kentucky. They were the only ones who would put the wind load rating in print. Lots of companies said "Oh yeah, good for a typhoon. Ummmm, no, we can't verify that - the lawyers won't let us". KSTB would, and did. They found some time ago that they needed to provide perlins and girts in steel as well (I never can remember which is which - one goes in the walls and one in the roof) - the wooden ones caused the screws to back out eventually. Our lot is only 0.8 miles from the creek (basically, an ocean inlet) and less than 5 miles from Middle Sound. Yep, I had to jump thru lots of hoops, but KTSB made it possible.

The slab is 5". My concrete guy made the thickened edge slab thicker than required (4" is code) and the edges are about 18" square - again, well past code, which was only 8" wide (a shovel width) x 12" deep. I have very little patience for people dissin' Mexican workers - those guys worked their butts off, including leveling the lot by hand. There wasn't much room to get a machine in to do the grunt work. They had to build it up with like 8 loads of fill and work it level with shovels, then compact it as they went. They also wisely made me wait while the fill settled. They set 6 J-bolts per end of each truss in the concrete and every one of 'em was spot on. Precision Concrete gets a round of applause from me! I have Jesus on speed dial on my cell - top that!

Actually, the wing is Masonite. I cut a couple of pieces to shield the windshield as we were welding. Yes, we'll move it outside eventually.

Neither the wife or I are gardeners - we can kill anything! Actually, it was dormant when I took the pics. We are cheating this year and using a lawn service - one to mow and 1 to spray. We'll see how it works. As far as I'm concerned, mowed weeds is fine, but we have a GREAT neighbor who has a great lawn and we worry that we're seeding dandelions and dollar weed onto their lawn. We do try to be good neighbors, especially when they are such super people.
