ok ive been dealing with a wiring issue in my S10 that I cant figuire out so I narrowed it down to the steering column, So I was fighting with the selector switch in the column and basically had the whole thing disassembled trying to change this part then next thing I know while holding it upside down it all came apart, so I got pissed at it and threw it out in the yard, this was tuesday evening
wednesday - I call my buddies salvage yard and ask him for a column and he says yea I got one, I'll pull it and come by after work and get it, ok no problem, after work I stop by, no column, he forgot to put the order in to get it pulled - he says call me thursday and remind me
thursday - I call my buddy at the yard lunch time and he tells me he will pull it today put it in his truck and drop it off at my place thursday night on his way home since we live a cuople miles apart
friday - im swamped at work and got off a little early and decide to drop by the yard on my way home to pick it up since i figuired he prolly forgot thursday night since it wasnt something he did and he was dealing with a broke racecar to race saturday night.....
I walk in and hes say "OH CRAP, DUDE IM SORRY ! " he tells me it still isnt pulled, he and another guy dropped the ball again, he tells me come in first thing saturday morning and I will have it for you, if not you can put it all over the internet im a P.O.S.
saturday - I walk into the salvage yard office and there it sits, a steering column for my S10, now I never said a bad word, always kept a smile on my face and told him, no worries and it'll work out in the end. He apologized for the wait and how sorry he was for making me go thru all that and tells me I can have the column for FREE, I was a lil shocked and thought he was messing with me, nope, tells me to take it and make sure I come back for the next thing I need .......... oh i will be back soon
saturday afternoon - I hit 2 local car shows and stop off at a friends house to check out his 36 ford coupe and hand him a couple of flyers for a car show im doing. There in the driveway sits caprice wagon #4, yes he owns 4 of them. One owner grandma car he got for $2000, all white super clean, and I see wagon #1 on jackstands, he tells me hes robbing the lowered suspension parts and torque thrust and putting on his newest wagon and will be getting rid of wagon #1 and tells me if I help out swapping parts and a little cash I will be the 2nd owner of wagon #1 <insert happy dance> So it looks like I will have a wagon, my wifes dd, my S10, my 54 F100 gets delievered in 2 weeks, and a caprice im trying to get off of doug in PA.
Glad I got a long ass driveway
and oh yea I almost forgot bout work - Ive been laid off 3 times in past 5 years and I dread to hear "the boss wants to see you in his office" and the end of the pay period on a friday - thats when I got laid off all 3 times.
So my ass is puckered up thinking im about to get my pink slip since its a very odd time in our line of business and economy. He says hes going to make it short and sweet... "I want to thank you for what you've done, you've been a great asset to the company and I want to give you a 5% pay raise effective monday, thank you, have a great weekend and get the F out of my office LOL"
just wanted to do a lil vent of sorts, sorry for the long read if you made it thru it all
