Drivers-ed

for the past 2 weeks ive been going to drivers-ed and its 3 hours of pure boringness.
we basically sit in a lunch room with 76 other kids and read a book and have a test each day
this class is pure common-sense. the questions asked are what color are tailights, what shape is a stop sign, and the hardest question was do you turn your head light on at night. is it really worth it?
sadly i have 3 more days left in the class

Whoever is paying for your car insurance is probably getting a good deal....yeah, it's worth it.

They use to show this in drivers ed when I was in HS in the early 70's http://www.archive.org/details/Signal301959 Pretty gruesome of how rough the roads were in the late 50's

In 1980 we were subjected to Red Asphalt, a classic. The best part of driver's ed for us was hitting the road in the blue Pinto hatchback donated by the local Ford dealer. ;D

Evan, it's unfortunate that the class has to be aimed at the lowest common denominator. I'll wager that there are kids in your class who do not know what color their tail lights are. Or the function of that little lever on the left of the steering column. Maybe it'll stick - we can hope. You, clearly, will sail right thru this and you might pick up a little something if only that living thru this process gets you something you want and need.

In 1980 we were subjected to Red Asphalt, a classic. The best part of driver's ed for us was hitting the road in the blue Pinto hatchback donated by the local Ford dealer. ;D

I recently signed Tricia up for a Drivers Ed course that you do on-line then go get the permit then hours with the instructor...

It may be BS, but it also may get an insurance discount.

I wonder if they'd accept the motorcycle version of driver's ed instead? They have a lot of driving tips that are really handy for cars too; following some of the advice I picked up there has kept me from getting sideswiped at least once. Not sure how the motorcycle classes are in your state, but in Georgia they don't screw around with what color taillights are - they go straight into tips about how to spot bad drivers, road hazards, and stuff like that.

I can remember some of the gory rules of the road safety videos - I can remember some folks crying they were so affected by those videos - if they wanted a shock factor - they got it.


One of the statements my driving instructor said that stuck with me was this:

"the right of way should never be taken, always given"

mentioning bad judgement...
my drivers test was in a jeep that was 1 year old.. broke the ebrake cable during the test.
I am in maine. have learned to doubt all the way to 115k psi tractor trailer frames.

I got some stories of bad judgement... it did some big companies in.

the only death I ever witnessed was an outright fail unforeseen. what are the odds?

i had to watch read asphalt and i did my drivers ed in 2002

we had Grand AM GTs for are test cars brand new 2003 modles. and yes there where people that failed the writen part
