    "Buddy Holley" wants OUT...

My bud/freind Tom has come to the conclusion, that He's "sick and tired of NOT having any room in His Basement & Garage. Seems He,like me couldn't help but take in some 'strays'...in this case,it's mostly the Mopar stuff He's accumulated over the past 10 years. He's got a pair of 440's,a 383,some 727-Transmissions,a bare(de-greased,Honed/Threads tapped,ect...)'72 4OO Block, some 383/440/400 Crankshafts, and a 68/70 Charger 8-3/4 Housing(it's bare,no Axles....). He's also has some Gearsets(various...)for the Housing. What's a FAIR price for everything? I'd figured I'd check with the B/S crowd first. 'Ole Tom doesn't 'do' the Internet 'thing' however. ~J/W.

He has quite a bit of money in that list you have there.

I have seen "running" 440's of unknown internal condition for about a grand around here.

383's cores are going for 350 or so (I have spotted rebuilt engines for 3K, and a core for as low as 150)

400 a few bucks more, they are more desirable than the 383 cuz you can bore them more...(correct me if I am wrong)

      the 727's if cores...I see for a bout 175..."good" ones for 300

      Don't know about the cranks....

        Re: "Buddy Holley" wants OUT...

Awhile back,I talked about all the Trannies we've accumulated over the years, about 2 weeks ago,I sold off nearly all of the 727/A-904's I had laying around here. I got $1200 for 12 Transmissions. Trouble is,the Shop Owner dosen't want any more,so,it seems 'Ole Tom is kinda stuck with 'em for awhile at least. I have 'an interest in the running 440(it's complete with all the Pulleys,Alternator, ect, and it even has 'an old-school Edlebrock Torker Intake/and Holley 800-Carb. this came out of a '69 Charger which ended up in Scrap....),that particular combo cost Him $900...complete with a 727 with a Shift-Kit,Chrome V/Covers,ect,which IS pretty good. This was back in '94. Nearly all of the other stuff is post-'96. The 400 Block IS worth a good bit, even moreso because it was given the once-over at a Machine-Shop,it's been sonic Checked, cleaned up/blasted,and Power-Honed. He's got the Recipts for it. There's also another '72 400,which has been stripped(the Intake/906 Heads,Tin/Water-Pump have been junked....too rusted, and nobody wants any of those 906's anymore...cheaper to buy aftermarket stuff....),this will be taken to the Machine-Shop in time. Why? I don't know. Ithink He just want's it to be more desirable when it's got "Machine-Shop-Paperwork." He's also got a Glasstek Bumper & Hood('Flat Hood'...Pin-On-Style...)for a 70-72 Valiant. These are brand new, they were going to go on the Brown '71 Valiant Coupe I sold Him 3 years ago.........I wound up buying it back from Him ;D ;D. He's now heavly into the Rockabilly/traditional/40's Rod scene :o. ~J/W.

I would love to take some of that scrap off his hands...a 383 a 440 and a couple of those 727's....wish I had the space to horde parts like that...he has stuff he wants to unload and I see a dream come true...

put them trannys on the local craigslist and see what happens...maybe there is a guy like me who would love to find a 727 core for 100 bucks...

I think 500 bucks for a machined 400 block would be a fair price...most of the running ones I have seen are going for 400ish..

the running 440...man, would I like to get my paws on that....

Tell him you will take $500 to help him clean it out. ;D
