    Car decisions

I love my H3, however, it was bought for a different time/space and its usefulness is marginal at best. I can't convince myself to buy a sheep car (read: TDI), not willing to pay for the maintenance of a BMW, so we're back to the aussies.

Question: I can buy a 2004 GTO for 10k w/50k miles; or a 2005 with same miles for 2k more... I bet in the end I could do far better on the 2004 as it's less loved - meaning, I could simply do a LS1ectomy and replace it with an LS3 or better.... in the end it'd be a wash as far as cost difference...

    So

If you had a choice between a '04 and an '05 or 06 GTO.. which would it be and why?

I'd go for the 05 or 06 with the 6.0L right out of the factory.
That which you manifest is before you.

one of the 06 has 14k miles, the other 34k.... which both have less miles then my '07 H3 - 75k

I want an 05 or 06 GTO, the 04 would be ok but the 4.00 bore can do so much more. Those L92 heads have me salivating. I am waiting until they get down to the prices I can afford, which is less than $7k.

                  Can't drop a 56x ls3 into a 24x '04 GTO.

Landlord just bought a pair of Caddy CTS-V Sedans one with the 5.7 & the other one with the 6.0. Both are 6-Speeds. Bought 'em from the Bank, and only bought 'em for the Engines/'Boxes. He also just got in a pair of '98 & '99 Camaro SS/Z-28's, again with the LS 's and the 6-Speeds. NICE Cars, but He didin't buy them to keep them(He hates the late model stuff...). ~J/W.

Times 6 or 7 on the 5 or 6 for all the reasons mentioned plus the duel exhaust situated The way they should be.

okay, i gonna be the odd man out here. i love my 04, had the options and i choose the 04 on purpose. i drive mine like crazy, and it will get better gas milage than the 05-06. the ls1 6sp combo was very tried and true and the 6.0 was new when i bought mine so i went with what i knew was a good and tried combo. to me, 50hp is not worth the extra 2-3k it costs, i can get that very easy and a lot cheaper than 2-3k. you can very easily put split dual exhaust on an 04. i have. the stock exhaust is true dual before, just both exit on the same side. and what bugs? i have had no issues with mine and have put 60k miles on mine in 3yrs. the only time it sits is in the winter 4 months. 04 is the 40th anniversy in fact, there is a 40th anny car is you can find them. not much difference, no markings, just gotta know what to look for. the scooped hood means a lot to some. i wanted that so mine has it. however, if you want a sleeper look, buy the 04 take the spoiler of, and you got a 2000ish cavalier to the untrained eye. yes, the 6.0 has a few more ponies to start with and a few more lsx options, but the ls1 is very loved in the aftermarket and a little cheaper because of it. check out the times not enough difference for me to worry about. and on a side note, putting this tought out there.....after the issue toyota had with drive by wire systems.... i will keep my cable as long as possible. these are just my opinions, and you know what they say about opinions, they are like a$$holes.....everybodys got one :D ;D 8)

either way, i think you be very happy with your choice.
