Can't any vendor/manufacturer get it right?

I bought a new 1330 pinion yoke and Spicer 1330 u-joint for the 12 bolt in my Skylark from a popular Drive shaft maker. I was planning to instal it tomorrow so I decided to put a little paint on it today but before I did I thought I should check to see if the u-joint was right. Well it was right but it would not fit between the locating tabs in the yoke. Apparently the yoke was machined wrong and the joint just barely won't fit!

I have little time these days to work on it so this really pisses me off. So what should I do now? Try to grind it out or be patient and send it back?

One of these days I'm going to make a list of all the things I've purchased that were either defective or wrong or wait, forget it. The aftermarket has already wasted enough of my time.

Return it and let them go through some aggravation. Hopefully, you charged it with the ability to dispute the charge if they give you a hard time.

Regardless, if you are not satisfied with the return, let the rest of junkies know and name NAMES, LOUD and CLEAR ---- its the only way to bring justice to bad service.

Um, squeeze the caps in a vise to push out a little grease and smash the fresh seals, then put it together.

I have had the same problem (with axles and stub shafts on my 4X4 and they^^^^^are dead on.....

Aww Dave, ya had me feeling like a dope. Thought I had overlooked the obvious so I went out and tried it but no luck. The gearhead in me wants to take the dremel to the yoke but if I screw it up then I'm f... well, you know. So I guess I'll call monday and send it back.

I don't think its the vendors fault as he is just a distributor but this crap really gets old. If I had all the cash I've spent on return shipping I could build another motor. You know, that burns me up too. Why do the vendors never offer to comp the return shipping! >

You have to ask them. They should send UPS or whoever to pick it up.

I'm with you on this one. I just stopped by Year One today and picked up my second attempt at a body bushing kit. The first one I ordered was a Prothane brand. The bushings were too big to fit the holes in the frame. When I called Prothane the guy was nice enough and offered a very small amount of help but
in the end he just said sorry and didn't seem to really want to go out of his way to get me the correct parts. The second kit is from Soffseal. Same deal, bushings too big for the holes. The thing about this kit is that it states right on the instructions that some early '65 model cars may require modifications to the frame. So they know when they package this stuff up that if I have '65 car there is about a 50/50 chance that it is not going to fit. Either they need to quit advertising this kit for 65's, let me know up front that it won't fit or the ideal solution, offer a correct kit for early 65's. I realize that working on a 1965 Impala that I will not have the same number of parts available as a 69 Camaro but if you advertise it to fit then it should fit. Am I asking too much!!

Yeah, don't get me started. I've been working on cars for a while now but on this one I've had the most rediculus stuff happen with parts and vendors but I don't want to get into it here.

Yeah, I live about two miles from there. I'm on the other side of I85, maybe three miles from Road Atlanta. Nice place to live. Close to Year One, Road Atlanta, and not bad to Atlanta Dragway.

Cool. That sounds like the ideal location for a car guy. Hopefully you work out that way too and don't have to deal Atl traffic. If I make it out to any of the YearOne events (which I plan to) I'll have to shoot you an e-mail and see if your going.

Well, since you to Braselton-ites derailed your post by talking about the shows at YearOne, I'll push it a little farther off the tracks and tell you about my swap meet at Lanier National Speedway the first Sunday of every month.
We just had one this past weekend, and while the weather was gray and dreary, and Charlotte was happening too, it turned out to be a pretty decent swap meet. It seemed slow, but when we tallied it at the end of the day, it was pretty good.
So come on out and say "Hi."
My wife is at the gate, my son is getting the vendors parked, and I'm up by the '62 Burb.

Hey Brad, I'm familiar with your swap meet but I've never been. Usually don't find much for buicks at swap meets but you never know when I'm gonna find those vintage edelbrock valve covers for my 455 for $100 bucks.

I'll will make it out though and I'll look you up. The 1st weekend in May has the B.O.P.C. show in Marietta on Saturday and I don't know if I could ditch the family for both days but there's always the rest of the summer.
