    video software.

I just got a call from a good friend, who runs a pro-mod. he ask me if i can recommend video software that will allow him to analyze his runs, frame by frame, and in slo motion.
So do you guys have any recommendation's. It would be nice to tie into his race pak info, but not completely necessary .
Since I use a Mac, didn't know what to suggest, even though he is going to check with race pak.
Do anybody remember who was making the high speed digital video cameras that had the crazy frame per second Rate?

And yes, I still think we need a photo /video child Board . ;D

I don't think Windows Movie Maker is going to give what he's asking for. Frame by frame analysis?

What's your friend's budget? that basically tells you what he can or can't afford to do. $4000 is a good target number for data-integrated with video.

        the good stuff aint cheap.

I found corel video studio gets in to frames ..still can't tell if its individual. mpeg2 is impossible anyway...

depending on the video camera he uses, software may be useless.

Scott, he hopes he gets to meet you this weekend. race pak says they have software that he can download to do what he needs. My Mac book does frame by frame in Imovie, but he wont by a macbook. lol

Sure thing. If the video already exists (he has external or on-car cameras making the recording) then all he needs with the Racepak software is to make sure he can get that video from the camera(s) into the computer.

We can go over that this weekend :-)

I've been trying to find DECENT quality on-board camera systems, at least 4 channels, for a customer who plans on going fast at Bonneville pretty soon. Maybe this October.

So I am talking about 4 cameras, mounts, and a multiple channel recorder with at least one audio input. You can find them all day for less than $4000, but all of those systems are LOW def, or high compression, both of which result in pretty crappy results when viewed on high def TVs or any standard resolution computer monitor.

Last year I used $200 handheld video cameras that we rigged to various car interior parts, and the quality was very very good for the little money we spent - but, they want me to include a suspension view, and we need to be able to start the cameras from one place - not crawl all over the car during prep before the run, to start the cameras.

With those requirements (quality and ease of use) the bill gets up over $4000 very quickly. Some of them will interface with datalogging systems directly - add money for that too.

Sorry I didn't state our requirements earlier. I was thinking "on board camera system that integrates with data logger"

You can view each frame using the old windows movie maker. I guess what he needs depends on what he wants to do....I can see how you could spend a lot of money on it if you wanted to. Or not much at all if you didn't want to.
