I tuned into the Daytona 500 at the half way mark today, I was bored and I tried to get interested in it but racing in pairs isn't my idea of racing, I'd rather see the cars race against each other. Apparently I'm the one that's off base because the stands look pretty full, There's about 12 laps left and I'm going to the garage!

I haven't watched Daytona in years but tuned it in today for a bit. Watched the first 50 or so laps, had to go out for a bit, then caught the last 50 odd laps. Decided to cheer for Jr. at the get go. I really enjoyed the race and thought the end was pretty thrilling. Might even start following NASCAR again ;)"Life's tough. It's even tougher if you're stupid." - John Wayne -

I'm not sure I'll go that far. Watched the start and quite a few laps, and it reminded me, they all just go round and round and round and round...Originally posted by VegamanI haven't watched Daytona in years but tuned it in today for a bit. And then the spaghetti got done so we sat down in the other room and ate and then cleaned up the kitchen and I checked up on it and they were stilll going round and round and round. And the race was barely half over, so I shot some pool and they were still going round and round....
Dang, that is a long race. It takes forever. But I sure was glad I was in front of the screen for the finish. Why don't they just do the finish first and have the rest available on DVD or something, if that's what you wanna see?Charter member of the Turd NuggetsComment

When I watch........I always enjoy the
start and 20 laps or so
then the last 10-20 laps, especially
if it's a close oneThom

Re: DAYTONA, am I the only one?
I haven't watched much Nascar in years, but today I felt like shit so I watched the whole thing and I thought it was better than anything I'd seen since Dale Jarrett won the 500. Doesn't hurt that my favorite old team the Wood Brothers won for the first time in ten years with a 20 year old rookie.

I have not watched a race since 01...I just don't care for it anymoreIf you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark DonohueComment

Your heart is in the right place, Jimmy. (even if your head is up your patootie ;D)the only music I heard was 9500 rpm
Haven't watched NASCAR since King Richard was driving.
Heck, I knew real roundy-round racing was finished when they painted Darrell Waltrip's car in Tide colors.
Earnhardt was good, but only when his car was wearing blue & yellow Wrangler colors.
And Jeff Gordon should have stayed in sprint cars to give Kinser some competition.

Re: DAYTONA, am I the only one?
I thought it was a pretty good race. And the kid that won sure seemed to gain respect from a lot of veterans. Great win for the Wood Brothers too. Betcha the kid gets a full ride this year after yesterdaySTUGOTSComment
