    Foreign dream car

If you had to buy and build up a non-american car, what would it be?

When i say non-american, i mean the company was not founded in the states.

    What engine would you use?

I would get an early Mazda Miata and put a 302 in it.

A Ferrari, with Ferrari engine. I also have a strange draw to Rolls Royces. If I found one with a dead motor, it would get a Caddy 500 and 700R4 or some such trans.

I've thought about doing the very same thing.....

or how about doing something like that to an early Italian car - how 'bout a cool old alpha romeo? or even a Triumph TR6?

then there's the ultimate classic euro powered by american muscle - an E type Jag with American V8 power!
There's always something new to learn.

        ;D

My first love as a kid was an MGB. Got the itch again before I got my Chevelle and looked at a few but was dismayed that I didn't really fit.

Was checking these out closely when I was in Germany recently:

Definitely will own a Beetle (old one) someday...
1967 Chevelle 300 2 Door Post. No factory options. 250 ci inline six with lump-ported head, big valves, Offy intake and 500cfm Edelbrock carb.

Volvo P1800 with a Big Block. Have to make sure that I order a 55 gallon drum of grease to make it fit.

There are a handfull of foreign cars that I have liked for a long time, and would love to build up someday.
                  1. '76-'77 TOYOTA Celica liftback, would find someway to drop a Lexus V8 in it.
                  2. a mid-'70s 280 Z, I'd build up the inline 6
                  3. FIAT X/19 , I saw one years ago with a Ferrari Dino V6, Very cool!
                  4. Early 70's DATSUN 1200 Fastback, A modern 4 cyl, maybe a Turbo
                  5. MAZDA RX-4, 13B Rotory with all the tricks
Just groovin' to my own tune.

                      i've got an opel.

but, i'd rather have a lotus 7 or late 50's-early 70's jap minitruck with an ls1.

                        '70's datsun Z car.

                        Always liked them.

Exotics have always been so far from my radar, I've not payed them enough attention to pick a favorite.

I wouldn't mind putting a 500HP 5.0L BMW motor in my 528e. It might hurt the MPG, but it sure woukd be fun!

I'm at Maxton so I can't go ferreting about and find any pictures but I've owned an Austin Healey 100 for almost 30 yrs now.... and for it's anneversary I'm going to restore it.... I've seriously been considering doing an engine swap on it... its something I've always wanted to do and now that I have the time opportunity and skill... I think it would be fun... so long as it wasn't invasive to the car itself.... so a Small Block Chevy is almost out....

My car is actually fairly nice.... paint's dead.... interior's dead, motors Great... as is the trans... and the general mechanical's...

The deal is that the 32 is going to swap places with the Healey when the 32 is done....and the Healey is going to be restored again... it was my first real project car... and I honestly love the damn thing...

I'd like to do a Datsun 510 with a corvette independent rear and LSX power.
